Crazy Maniac vs. Intelligent Maniac

I was playing the "intelligent maniac" style and doing fairly well until this guy sat down and made me look like a rock. Raise every pot he comes into $1, or $2 if he has actual hand. You can count on a bet/reraise on the flop and if anyone's still hanging around the 3xpot bet on the turn usually gets rid of them. I had a good feeling he bought me off my paired 10 kicker K when the turn brought an A earlier.

chuck 'em. that board has such scary straight possibilities. You said yourself that he raised every pot $2 if he had a hand. Surely a hand to him would include KQ, or even 78s.
He was either slowplayin his flopped straight then bangin it in on the river or the 9 was the money card. You've more than doubled your starting stack why risk it all on that board......

I was more worried about him having the set than a straight but I couldn't give him that much credit based on previous hands. I was surprised when he checked the turn as normally that's where he'd go for the buy. He must've thought I was weak on the turn, so he went for the buy on the river. Thank god the river didn't bring a 6. One for the buddy list, when they get it going again.

good call on the river but not to crazy about checking the turn after he checked, a very dangerous board to give a free card away to and i presume who called his rerasie on the flop because you assumed you were ahead so why check the turn when a harmless 2 comes out?the 9 on the river gave you excuses to fold as it was dangerous so checking the turn here is weak imo. Nh though

Yeah, you're right. I should've bet big on the turn. I didn't expect him to check here at all. I'd say he would've gone all in anyway if I bet $40 or less.

I'm suspicious of a check on the turn from a guy who put the last reraise in on the flop. Suspicious as in he didn't expect to be called on the flop and now he's in deep trouble. Take a look at this hand a few hours later, I have the guy down in my notes as a bit of a bluffer:

He was getting a bit tilty from me raising nearly every pot, mostly poxy min raises with hands like 96s 910o, suited K's.

I'd say he put me on AK or something similar and didn't expect to be called on the flop. The turn check basically said "I don't have top pair, I don't have a set and I don't have a straight". The only hand other than a bluff I could put him on after the turn was 99 or 1010 and now he thinks I might have AA or KK. He as good as said "This is a bluff" on the river. If he had've bet the turn as well I would've had no chocie but to fold the river to another 6. An all in/big bet on the turn when the 3 came I would've had to fold too.

Could be worth keeping an eye out for guys checking the turn after reraising the flop. If they go all in on the river after tieing themselves(in their minds) to the pot, I'd say it's more than 80% likely they're bluffing, if you have them down as aggressive and a bluffer. I wouldn't call like this if it was a good and/or tight player who's capable of making plays other than all out aggresion.
