Is anyone attending the unvailing of the statue today?

    6.30pm on Grafton Street,

I expect to see all of the ex members who are playing the tribute gig
in the point tomorrow night to be there.

The Godfather of Irish Rock, its about time he's being recognised.

    lol! I was just there.

The sculptor wasn't allowed in by one of the guards because he didn't have an ID!!!! Can you believe it? He got fed up and just walked off. The guard firmly believed that anyone without an ID or pass wasn't allowed in. The poor sculptor...

I even have a pic of him at the scene. I swear I could see the anger in his eyes.
(He's on the extreme left of that photo, wearing the black tie with the yellow stripes)

Any pictures of the statue itself?

    Well... Not really.

I only have one shot of the head, But it's extremely poor quality.
There was a moron standing on a ladder right in front of me behind the barrier so I couldn't get any good shots. Sorry.

The statue was kinda made out of a bronze-colored metal.

He does look a bit miffed alright. Wouldn't blame him.

I saw it.Have to say it's a lovely statue and hopefully it won't be de-faced cause it's outside Bruxelles so the Bruxelle's bouncers can look after it!!
I'm real pleased that Phil has finally been properly commemorated as the true poet and artist he was...rock on :)

i was there today and there were a lot of people posing with this old dude who was signing photographs and getting his picture taken.

anyone know who he is i'll try and describe him as much as i can.

he had black hair, maybe with a little grey in it, it was scruffy and possibly down to his cheekbones in length but he had it swept back.

he was also wearing shades on a pretty crappy day, maybe they are a trademark of his?

he had a goatee which was black and grey.

he had red scabs on his elbows.

the statue itself is brilliant the sculptor did a great job and i'm really fond of the work he done on the trademark fender bass

That would probably be Stormfront.org xtremo.
Cremo, that does sound like Robbo. Saw him at a vibe a few years ago, looked like a total douche bag. Complete aging rock loser. http://www.hotpress.com/photos/getimage.adp?a=2821264&p=2821270&t=photoFile
