Hey me and my girlfriend are going to New York in October and neither of us have been so anyone have any good hotels to reccomend? I have 2 months to save money for just the hotel, spending money is taken care of. But it has to be cheap because we're going for ten days. So any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

if money is an issue, i'd look into hostels
some can be kinda sketchy, but there also some great finds (clean and cheap)

I stayed in the Best Western Hotel when I was there last year. Its just off Times Square and fairly cheap.

Whats your budget for the hotel?
They are kind of expensive in manhattan and you would want to be carefull not to go too low budget as you might be stuck in a dive.

This one seems ok for a budget and is beside everything in midtown manhattan for the equivalent of about €75 a night.
I'd recommend you splash out for your last 2 nights in The peninsula
    Now it's a faboulous hotel.
By doing that you have saved money by being in a functional neat, very cheap hotel for 5 days and you are looking foward to the treat in the lapth of luxury all week to your last 2 nights in Bliss.
I had a look at it about a month ago,it's just 2 blocks down from central park and on the corner of 5th ave-very very sweet.

A good few friends of mine have stayed here:

Great location, not extremely luxurious, but spotlessly clean. Don't know exact prices there right now, but with the dollar in the toilet, it should be good value for you anyway.

Also, I have heard there is a Mariott in NY that is pretty good value.

When I go to New York I stay at the Portland Square Hotel just off Times Square. It's not fancy, but it is cheap, clean, central and safe. They don't do breakfast, but there is an excellent diner across the street.

They have a sister hotel the Herald Square Hotel but I have never stayed there.

the pennsilvanian is a crap hotel, if you want to impress your gf its not the place. however, it is perfectly placed for staying in manhatten and that i cannot fault. if you relly want to impress your bird try the millenium hilton opposite ground zero. not a great location tho. they tend to have some decent deals going.
if possible, make your trip at the weekend as all hotels will be cheaper!

Booked myself and the wife into the Radisson for January. 159 USD per night + taxes + more taxes + even more taxes.

    Radisson Lexington Hotel New York
    511 LEXINGTON AVENUE
    NEW YORK, NY 10017
    (212)-755-4400

Hate the way NY does taxes

Why would you want to stay opposite ground zero ? you will have to get a cab up to time square and all.

PS: were is the pennsilvanian hotel ?

i know i said that! you cant beat the pennsilvanian for location, BUT, if you wanna impress your bird..... the hilton is class. thats all.

We had the PERFECT hotel. It was actually in New Jersey; the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson. 4* (or 3.5, depending where you read), and superb service - rush to open the doors, take your bags etc. It's 2mins from Manhattan, just with the PATH train in; so you don't notice it.

With the help of www.betterbidding.com, and using www.hotwire.com, we got it for $78 a night, per ROOM. That is next to nothing for the kind of place it is; it's phenomenal; what you'd expect for a Hyatt. You either get 2 double beds (which we had, as it was me and my sister) in the room, or one huge bed, for a couple.

stayed in west side ymca few weeks back and im staying there again in november just booked it. rooms are basic but cheap. the location is fantastic. its at the south west corner of central park on 66th street not sure what intersection.

whats really hadny about it is that several tain lines take you to columbus circle station which means you dont have to wait around for a aprticular train.

if you do go for it can i recommend an italian restaurant a few blocks south. its called joe g's. its down a few blocks on around 56th-58th street and the food and price is amazing.
