Inappropriate Indication

    Need to have a rant....

Usually we complain about people not indicating at roundabouts etc....
My complaint is people indicating inappropriately. Indicating too much if you will.

Every day and I mean EVERY day I encounter people sat in their cars by the side of the road (parked or pulled in) with indicator stuck on to suggest that they are going to pull out into the road.

When I first saw this I actually stopped and flashed someone out as I didn't want to risk them not seeing me coming past. But they never moved. After flashing again and tooting with no response I eventually set off again and saw this person (who just happened to be of the female gender!) chatting to her pal - not even looking in the mirror.

I have always been taught to only indicate when your side of road is clear and you can pull out. I know it might be old fashioned but whatever happened to mirror --> signal --> manoeuvre ?

Is this not taught in the driving schools?

Do you think everyone uses driving schools in a country where a driving test is optional ?

My indicator peeves are on roundabouts and orange bulbs.

On roundabouts a lot of people don't bother to indicate left when exiting, I've seen them leave roundabouts still indicating right.

When the orange fades on bulbs it can be very difficult to see indicators when the headlights are on too, especially during the day. The paint does not out last the filament so it's obvioulsly unfit for purpose and the bulbs are three times the price of clear ones !

my worst on the roundabout is people going straight, (ie 2nd exit) and indicate right all the way to their exit and never indicate left when taking the exit, just leave the right indicator on

If they are going straight (ie second exit) they should not have the right hand indicator on at all
they should just indicate left once they have passed the entrance to the first exit

If muppetry is penalised, muppets will quickly learn to be people!

If people on L plates are not allowed to drive without a qualified driver on all prov licenses, they (and all of us) will learn and comply with Rules of the Road. By not allowed, I mean a good chance of being caught and penalised, not that some bit of paper says they shouldn't.

Some countries require that the qualified driver (teacher) be nominated and only that nom person will be albe to be the qualified person. Funny enought, these countries have a much higher success rate in people getting their full license.
