New Irish Passports problems with customs?

I recently went to Australia for a month with the girlfriend. As it was her first time out of the country she applied and got one of these new Irish passports. As most people know the passport format has been changed to include extra features .. What most people don’t seem to know is for the moment it seems to be a world of pain to travel with these new passports.

On the way over had three stops.. London, Tokyo, Sidney.. It seems that in every country (Except London) we got stopped by customs. We where made to wait over an hour for the passport to be verified. After having a chat with the guys it charge it seems that whoever was in charge of passports over here didn’t notify them of a changes.

Anyone else have problems like this?

I got my new passport earlier this year. Granted i've only flown in Europe with it but i haven't had a problem. Its not really any different to my previous one....just that the page that has the photo is made out of a harder cardboard or something rather than light paper. What sort if issues do customs have with your girlfriends passport?

No problems going to the States. I had the old passport and my husband had the new one.....
