Came home this evening and went to power on my laptop and not a dicky bird. It was working all day and I left work, put it into Hibernate as I do every day.
Nothing obvious before I left work.

Do these babies have internal fuses?

    Its a Dell Inspiron 8100.

Even with the power supply connected, the green power light is not on.

No there are no internal fuses that I recall. Is the power supply light on when connected? Have you tried stripping the system down and testing? Also, try removing ac power, the battery and holding in the power button for 5 secs to drain power off the board then try again? If not then remove minipci/pcmcia/modem cards/memory/battery/anything else and test. If same probably the systemboard is at fault.
