€120 for something that looks like a Dunnes Stores reject with some casters attached? Some people will buy anything...

Yeah taking a look at the site they do look pretty bad.Only thing they have going for them is the novelty of having a wheel in them. They need to do some work making them look half decent, especially at that price.

Why do you need wheels on your shoes? Are they not more awkward than rollerblades and much heavier than regular shoes?

You dont need them but it would be pretty cool to have them if it were reasonably priced.

    They're so lame its unbelievable....
If you're 10 or 11 and have a pair, i suppose thats ok but anyone over the age of 13 with them....

I HATE these! My Friend was wearing these in town and kept taking the wheels out. Everyone asked him to stop that he was bumping into people and he just looked stupid! He continued wheeling around on them at the spike, walking down Henry St, walking through the Ilac.. He couldn't walk in them properly so insisted on using the wheels. SO annoying!

I'd love to give them a go, but I wouldn't pay the 110 euro they cost in Champion in Dundrum.

I imagine they'd be fairly chunky to wear unless you're the proprietor of rather baggy trousers.

I am the QUEEN of rather baggy trousers :p

Well then it would appear the aforementioned shoes would suit you.

However for the "regular" pant owner said shoes might be incompatible, although I've actually to see anyone wearing them in public.

Is he under the age of 13?Cause only then would that be somewhat acceptable...

I didn't realise that anyone over the age of 9 wore these things, no offense. The only problem I have with them is how chunky they look. Surely they could have put a bit more effort into designing them

No, he's not under 13. He just looked stupid and I think they look stupid!

    Hmm Heath Robinson contraption. :p

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heath_Robinson
the name "Heath Robinson" is applied as a shorthand for an improbable, rickety machine barely kept going by incessant tinkering. (The corresponding term in the U.S. is Rube Goldberg, after an American cartoonist with an equal devotion to odd machinery.)

They do look cool and very fun but €110 is very steep for a pair of runners with a wheel stuck in the heel!!! They're only that price because they're "Heelys" and everyone wants a pair. Seriously, you can buy pair of pretty cool roller blades in Smyths for €50 and they're stronger, faster and probably safer but roller blades aren't a fashion assessory like Heelys, are they? It's all got to do with whats in and whats out . . . I should know as I am a 17 year old!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

    You're a 17 year old??and you like heelys??and you've been having a look around smyths toystore lately?
    lmao!

I really think these wheely shoes are stupid! i wudnt be caught dead in them

Oh, so your saying that the minute I hit my teenage years I have to become a boring adult?! Well sorry about you if you lost your child at heart but I haven't and have no intention of doing so. I happen to like rollerblading, skateboarding, computer games and stuff like that - it's better than wasting my life in front of the tv watching stupid, boring programmes and talking about the weather! Every year is Paris there is an adult rollerblading marathon around the city so try explaining to them that what they're doing is childish. I'm not the Imao, you are!

Rollerblading, skateboarding, computer games - never said anything about them, I'm merely saying that Heelys(the topic of the thread) are the dumbest looking things I've ever seen, that only children would want to get a pair and only children would be caught dead on them.
Also "lmao" means Laughing My Arse Off, i wasn't trying to offend you with that.

Well sorry about getting so hot-tempered :o . . . it's just that I'm so sick of people always going on about what's cool and what's not. Well, I never said Heelys were the best thing ever but I don't see how they're that stupid. These just look like skater shoes that move but I'd probably prefer rollerblades as they're less expensive, faster and stronger and they only reason I go to Smyths to get rollerblades is because they're cheaper, wider selection and one of the very few places around that do rollerblades in my shoe size. But everyone has the right to opinion don't they? That's all I have to say.

sorry to drag up an old thread but I, a 21 year old, would love a pair of these!

Any ideas where to get them online - ebay seem to either have crap looking ones, or top out at size 6. Skate city won't have them til next month. Champion's website is crap, and I'd rather not pay retail anyway...

damn, I was duped into another misleading thread.
I thought someone had a pet name for their high heeled shoes or summat

About theses Heely things then. meh, you would have to be a pretty funky person to get away with them methinks.

i would never get a pair myself but i love seeing peoples reactions to people wearing them.

Well as an old fart at 28 I think they look cool. I'd never even contemplate buying a pair, but as has been said by someone else, I like seeing people's reactions when someone goes gliding by on their heels!
