ECC ram question

    Hi,

does anyone know if this ram:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6794711659
is suitable for use in a Tyan-S2462 (http://www.tyan.com/products/html/thunderk7.html) motherboard?

The ebay seller says no, that is has to be PC2100, but the docs for the motherboard says it'll take PC1600. But the docs do also say 72bit ECC and the spec given by the seller & samsung say "...is 64M bit x 72.." and I'm not too sure what this refers to.

Can anyone who knows ram give me a definitive answer?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

You're gonna use the mobo with two AMD Athlon MP cpus right?

AFAIK those processors are all 133MHz FSB (even the slowest, the Athlon MP 1500+), so you need PC2100 RAM. PC1600 would slow down the whole system unnecessarily

That dual mobo requires ECC memory alright

that resolves my problem from another perspecive altogether, hadn't considered what it might do to the CPU clockspeed (I was blinded by 2GB for the same budget I'd set aside for 1GB!).

    (yeah, 2x MP-1800+)

    Cheers.
