    http://www.irelandoffline.org/survey

We are going to launch our latest survey tomorrow. Until then can the readers of this forum test it out for us and see do they spot any bugs? We'll wipe the results of the testing around midnight and then launch this for real after making any bug fixes.

    14. Since getting broadband how much has your internet usage increased?
    0%
    10%
    25%
    50%
    100%
    200%
    500%

Personially speaking my internet usage has exploded as I would barely spend 2 or 3hours a week(56k costs!) on it before...but now my computer is almost always on with my broadband being "untimed"...so is my internet connection.
    14. Since getting broadband how much has your internet usage increased?
    0%
    50%
    100%
    200%
    500%
    more
Above would be better as 10% and 25& is negligible.

    10. [*] Which of the packages below do you find the most appealing? Note: Throttling is the act of restricting data flow once a certain allocation has been exceeded.
19.99 Euro for 20 hours per month and pay per minute after the 20 hours
19.99 Euro per month for up to 4 Gb of data throttled to 25% thereafter
29.99 Euro per month for over 4Gb of data throttled to 25% thereafter

The third option does not make sense.

Question 11 and 15 seem very similar

    19. [*] Line Rental in Ireland is the highest in the EU by 8 Euro per month. Do you think this reflects the level of service you are receiving in Ireland?
    Neither agree nor disagree
    Disagree
    Strongly Disagree
    Agree
    Strongly Agree

The question does not relate to the answer. The question should be a statement. Also the question is leading.....

The same with question 20. Both 19 and 20 answers should should be in order eg Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neither, Agree, Strongly Agree

Firstly, I'd like to say congrats to the Ioffl guys for compiling this together as it seems like a lot of work went into this from a number of people and it was well thought out.

The only problems I've noticed are with Question 14 and 17. Question 14, instead of "Broadband availability in my area" should probably read "DSL availability in my area" as there could be wireless providers in areas (in my case; 2). i.e. there is broadband availability in my area but the line fails the test.

Question 17 is only missing "per month" when talking about the highest price point. It's pretty obvious what you meant anyway.

8 "What do you primarily use the internet for?": You should add entertainment, like sport, gambling, and adult.

9 "Broadband availability in your area": "My line test failed" doesn't really make sense considering there are four types of broadband in Ireland. This could equally be "I have no LOS/signal" or "My cable isn't good enough" (even though it's very difficult for an NTL customer to know if it's the cable or general lack of availability). So maybe the option should be "Is broadband available in your area or exchange but you can't get it".

10 "Which of the packages below do you find the most appealing? Note: Throttling is the act of restricting data flow once a certain allocation has been exceeded": You should add the option "Neither" or "Don't Know" as to me they're equally worthless.

21 "If yes, who do you think will be mainly responsible for this happening?": What "yes" is this? (I notice you've fixed this now)

43-49 "If affordable always on broadband were available to every household... (tick all that apply)": Add a "Don't Know" option. I would not have a clue or opinion if distance learning or the elderly are affected by broadband, etc. And incidently, even if I had an opinion, would it matter to anyone? I would focus the survey on stuff that I myself experience as opposed to my perception of how broadband affects other people.

I don't really know what you're trying to achieve with this survey, but I would add levels of satisfaction with various things. Like are you happy with the amount you're paying for broadband, does your ISP deliver a good service, if your ISP is IBB do they suck ass (only joking), if you're using VoIP are you happy with it as a POTS replacement, if you have asked ComReg to help you deal with a consumer issue, how do you rate their performance. If you know of IOFFL, how do you rate their performance?

Possibly add stuff about illegally downloading copyrighted material. I'd say the media would be interested in that.

Another fairly frequently mentioned thing is that broadband affects TV viewing. You might want to ask questions about how broadband usage has affected TV viewing or social life.

Blaster99, just one thing. The question numbers vary wildly depending on the options you pick. Can you include the question title please? Thanks.

    11. [*] If you could get broadband without paying line rent and use broadband for internet access and telephone calls would you use it?

    15. If you could get broadband without using a telephone line would you disconnect your telephone line to save paying the line rent, instead using your mobile or VoIP to make telephone calls?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 849 ✭✭✭jwt

    Blaster99

    Q8
I'll put that on the back burner and see what the opinions are

    Q9
Good point, amended to "My broadband test failed"

Q10 added none of the above

Q43-49 you don't have to answer

I'll let other committee members comment on your other points. Don't take that as a negative just a bit busy atm

    Thanks

Subtly different though, 11 is say a smart offering whereas the other would be wireless.

And the second question doesn't get asked if you are on dial up or ISDN.

Similar questions asked different ways are nice from a statistical point of view to offer confidence levels. Hence lots of similar questions at the end.

But hey, if everybody agrees its redundant I'll take it out. :D
