using sendmail to email logfiles

    We have a redhat 9 server on our local network which is generating a few logfiles I want to have emailed to an admin daily. Knowing little or nothing about the likes of sendmail I thought I'd ask here for any advice.

    Whats the easiest way to forward logfiles to an email address? Something which concerns me about sendmail is the fact that theres no dns available and it'd be a pain in the ass to have to setup the server on the internet just to have the ability to email from it. The only role of the server is to serve an application through telnet and of course, to email the logfiles out whenever I set it up.

    Thanks for the help.

    How about mail -s "some subject" admin@somewhere.com < mylogfile.log

    If you don't have DNS and you know the IP address of the destination host you could pop it into your /etc/hosts file. Quick 'n' dirty.

    Regards,

    Liam
