    Hi,
I've a machine here and I need to know if its running a virtual processor or if it has two cpus. How can find this out apart from opening it up?

    cat /proc/cpuinfo

Already done that but it doesn't provide any info on weather or not one of the CPUs is virtual. Should I take it the fact it doesn't say means that both CPU's are physical. I really need to be sure.

Dunno if this works out side Solaris but....

    psrinfo

Lists number of cpu's and their state

Run a single threaded benchmark on it's own, run two single threaded benchmarks in parallel. If the two benchmarks speeds are near enough to the single benchmark, then you have two CPUs. Someone did a project on this last year, I think that was roughly the approach he took. Thought to myself that there has to be a far better way, but he was a top of the class type student, so I assume there isn't

Ah Sun - why didnt you say so......

psrinfo (will show all processors - including virtual)

    psrinfo -p (shows physical)

psrinfo -pv (for information on them)
