Want to copy old VHS to DVD Using PC[Help please]

    Guy,

    Planning to convert all my old vhs videos to DVD, can onyone asnwer:-

    1. What programe is best?
    2. TV in is sufficent?


    Is there a simple effect way of doing this?

    You'd be better checking other forums for this one. HTPC forums in particular. Also, doom9.net is a fantastic repository of information.

    On a simple level though, TV in with processing power is sufficient. You'll need to encode to DVD compliant mpeg, then use a conversion tool to make the necessary .vob files that make up a dvd.

    If you're doing a lot, then a hardware mpeg encoder would be the bees knees. It would give better quality and remove the need for raw processing power. The Hauppauge PVR-350 has this capability. You could buy one second hand, use it, then sell it on at a fairly small loss.
