    Hey,

In Bangkok at moment. Heading homeward Saturday. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on places for womens tailoring. Need a suit for a work thing when I get home so should really stop buying flip flops and get one while I'm here....

    Deadly city!!

There were tons on the Khao San Road last time I was there, in 1999.

got mine and herself's suits and silk shirts on koh samui when we were there 2+ years ago, and they're still going strong.

i found the best combo for quality/price is an indian shop with a chinese tailor.

and don't forget to haggle in several shops if you have the time, you'll save yourself a bundle.

you really need to give yourself a day to shop around and 2 days to get them made, just in case anything isn't to your satisfaction first time, but you might have to speed up the process a bit given you're coming home on Saturday.

try not to cut it too tight though in case you need adjustments making.

I found that most of the places off the Kho Shan road looked pretty crappy and had unrealistically low prices.

I decided not to go so cheap, and went to the place in the Viengtai hotel, which is close by (on a parallel St) and am still very happy with results.

I paid (I think) ~170 for a suit with the thickest (most expensive) material, and a spare pair of pants. Also included was a shirt and tie.

You can get cheaper but I would to be honest.

i'm about to head out there in a few weeks and I really want to get a good few suits and maybe even a tux made up. Can anyone else who has done this please give as much advise as possible? I heard some of them are excellent and you can go in and pick up a armani or Boss catalogue and they will replicate the suit for you. Is it adviseable to go back after a few days to get another fitting to make sure thye are perfect? Will they post them home, and how much does it cost?

    All advise appreicated
    Cheers

Personally, i think there all crap, the stitching is quite bad if you look closely, why not go around the big shopping centres in Sukhumvit, lots of designer shops there with the prices half of what they are here

I'd say you were just unlucky I know plenty of people who have got stuf made there and been very happy with it yearrs later.

Can anyone who has had a good experience post some advice and recommendations please?

Any of the shops around khaosan are pretty average, Although Viengtai's has a decent rep., In honesty it's pretty much hit and miss with the quality of the end product. I got a suit done in Hoi an(I think) in Vietnam, shirts are ok, good material and suit is very good quality all round, 2 trousers, 2 shirts & a jacket for $45. But shop around and ask any other travellers if they've had anything done. Also, since you'll be picking material, colour & style at least its almost a one off!! Even if the stitching isn't perfect
