Laid off after 15 months.. entitlements?

    next friday i am being laid off along with 8 other people...
    last in first out stuff....

    what i need to know is because i was there over a year am i entitled to
    any compensation/ severence pay??

    we were not made fulltime by the company as many people there were over 2 years before being made full time..

    anyone?

    You need to be working in a place for over two years before you are entitled to redundency. It's a harsh rule and something most employers are well aware of.

    Afaik you aren't entitled to anything but notice and a reference if you wish one. It's harsh but the private sector is like that.

    There is no legal difference between full- and part-time staff when it comes to rights like this.

    Most decent employers will give you some sort of package if you're there a year/ past your probation.

    As someone else said if you are there less than 2 years you are not entitled to anything, its up to the discretion of the employer.

    If it's a fixed term contract then I don't think you get anything for the contract naturally hitting it's end date. I could be wrong though.
