i know most of the socs/clubs/guilds in UCC are pretty good but im wondering has anyone got any info on any of these three. i have looked at the websites but want personal opinions/experiences.

Kickboxing (sounds interesting and less formal than the martial arts)

    Eurosoc (vulnerable foreign women galore)

Photography (i like photographs and would like to get into it)

i was thinking of joining a martial art but i decided against because i want something more real (not saying martial arts arent real but i want something more like fighting) and i dont want the formality of an official uniform and bowing etc etc.

martial arts = kung foo, wing chun, karate etc etc

ah so i was correct in assuming you don't have a clue about "martial arts"?

hey prior, i think i remember your short stint in the martial arts forum.

Well here are the martial arts offered by UCC according to their website:

Aikido (lots of formality, no fighting)
Boxing ( no bowing, lots of fighting i'd imagine)
    Chinese MA (whatever this is)
Fencing (lots of fighting, formal, no bowing)
    Judo (lots of fighting, bowing)
Karate (Shotokan/Tradional) (probably little fighting, a bit of bowing and formality)
    Kendo (depends)
    Kickboxing (see below)
    Kung fu (probably little fighting)
TKD (depends on instructor but definitely be bowing, formaility, maybe some fighting)

Well seeing that you don't like formaility, bowing, and you want to fight, i think that leaves you with the only option of Boxing. Kickboxing, as i have interpreted from the website, (i don't go to ucc and don't know anything about ucc kickboxing) looks to me like kenpo karate.
