I'm sure this has been covered before, I've never withdrawn money from pokerstars a/c before and now wish (NEED!!!) to get some out ...

My options appear to be NETeller, CentralCoin, FirePay or to have a cheque sent out ...

Now cheque delivery, they say on the poker site, would take "about 15 days" and I'd rather have the money sooner than that ... the hitch here is that I know NOTHING about NeTeller, CentralCoin or FirePay ...

Can anyone please advise me which is the least hassle and/or most efficient economic?

    Cheers,

    KP :)

cash out via neteller and then transfer that to a VC account. VC will then transfer direct to your bank account.

    bada bing!

neteller already do direct to bank but itll take about a month to set up coz they are a tad useless at the whole thing

to be honest I can't help you too much as I am not even a pokerstars user.... but just a warning about the check issue. I just withdrew a check from empire poker, it told me 15 days as well. Then after getting it, lodging it... i got a letter in the post a few days later saying that the check needs to be sent to the US for clearance, and so I won't get the money for another month... what a dose.....

so my opinion, try and find out more about the other avenues... a check is just too awkward from the american sites.....

Pokerstar's checques come from Ireland so there won't be an issue with having to clear it with an american bank.

I took the cheque option with Pokerstars, got the check in the mail 3-4 days later. Lodged it and it was available immediately to me..

Like Karl I now use netteller to move my money around and when I want to cash out I deposit into my VC account who very kindly allow cash outs direct to my bank account. An excellent and handy service. Unfortunately another reason I have stopped playing PPP is because of no Netteller.

had a cheque sent to me. took three days to get to my door. Lodged and cleared straight away. Pokerstars is great. Yay!

You can only do that if you've deposited a certain amount with the same Visa on VC. I tried the same thing but I can't remember the error I got back when I did.

Neteller is quicker than a cheque. Set one up, link your bank account, wire the money. Cheque will take 10 days minimum (atleast any that I have gotten have) and another 4 working days to clear after you lodge it if you are not with BOI.

Karl is talking about cashing out to bank account Nicky not Visa. You send them the details of your bank account and they set it up. Took a bit of toing and froing because my account was Irish but they set it up in the end and last time I cashed out to it it took about 36 hours.

they've brought in a new measure to stop you transferring in a load of money using Neteller and then withdrawing it to bank or CC. I tried to get $500 from Neteller through VC and it wouldnt work. Normal withdrawls from VC still work though.

Ken, Pokerstars issue checks once a week and they are drawn on a UK bank. I think is either Wednesday or Thursday that they issue them but it takes a day or so for the cheque to be authorised first so you have probably missed it this week. Best time to cash out is on a Monday. You can also request Sterling or US$ cheques.

Neteller is straightforward to set up but you will need to fax them bank statements etc to verify the account before you will be able to withdraw to your bank account.

Pokerstars used to cash out to Switch for UK customers. If you are with AIB then the new laser cards they sent out use the Maestro facility with which you may be able to cash out.

I am not sure if they do Bankwire's but if you send them an email they might.

    Of course. Silly me.

I certantly never had to fax them Bank Statements to verify my account. Although I'm having trouble linking my account, so this may become an issue later.

They make a micro deposit into your account and when you tell them how much exactly that deposit was, apparently hey presto, your account is Linked, although, so far there's some problem with this deposit into my account for some reason So far I've been waiting 2 weeks, but hopefully it'll all be sorted soon.

They may have changed then. It was last year I did it.

I have neteller and you can cash out directly from that to your bank account.
It's a bit of hassle to set up, you need to ask your branch for the IBAN number and swift code for your bank/account.
Then you need to verify your identity with the Neteller people over the phone and give them the numbers.

Dunno if it makes a difference from doing the karlh way, that extra step via VC/PPP doesn't cost you anything extra exchange wise does it?

I don't think it does. So how long does it take to cash out to your bank account from Neteller?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

Can't remember off the top of my head but no more than 3 working days.

I have a neteller account and in all honesty it was a pain in the Arse. Part of that though was because I opened the account in sterling.... So what happened was the deposit I was making from a poker site into Neteller was in Dollars and then they charged to convert it into sterling... as well as giving a poor rate. If my memory serves me correctly I lost about £50 on the deal for a transfer of $1500. So if you go the netteller route it's better to keep it in dollars and you can then move the money around easier.

But in all honesty unless you're going to move money around a lot I'd say the cheque is the easiest option.
