    Hi, I am newbie but after browsing i have certainly been grabbed by the throat by the DreamBox.
    I want to set up my own dreambox alongwith maybe one or 2 multiple LNB motorised dishes.
    Can anyone please help me guide if they have dreambox set up as to what hardware to get , where to get it from and how to install it and or get it installed.
    I want a fully maxxed out tricked software downloaded upto the hilt dreambox able to view the heaven in HD (or well like all encrypted sky stuff) and all available satellites this side of the equator alongwith a capacity for a 300gb HDD as i have one will it take 3.5"? and maybe a DVDRW or any capability to have one fitted in it ? ideally i want dinky sized portable motorised dishes but i guess i will probably have to do with one either 60 or 80 in dish or would the sky minidish do the trick ? also quad LNB's for multiple viewings.
    OR is this all possible with a SKY STAR 2 USB card as well ????
    which one is better and more suitable reliable ?
    I work basically with a P4 laptop with 1 GB RAM ,Decent Graphics card and have external HDD for further storage but currently NO TV TUNER CARD/
    ANY ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFUL.I would be extremely grateful if anyone in Ireland ideally Dublin /drogheda has a Dreambox/Skystar set up and dosent mind showing me what exactly could be done . thanx

    well if you want a hdd you will want the 7000 or 7020.have a look at hm-sat.de for both. the 7000 should do you fine.i think the 7020 has some more flash memory .have a look at sat-industry.net and you will find all you need to know aboutthe dreambox.the 7000 and 7020 take 3.5'' hdd.hm-sat also sell motors for 60 euro,the sg2100 with goto x,manaul e/w buttons is a good choice.an 80 cm dish will get you 25+ satellites if motor is set up correctly.i put up my motor a few years ago having no previous experince,and got it set up perfectly after figuiring it out.a cheapo sat finder ,about 15 euro,is a must for any sat instillation. the skystar2 usb works very well and you can get one for about 100 incl. del.http://www.dvbshop.net/product_info.php?cPath=1_10&products_id=207 . i have the pci version for a pc and its an excellent card.you can control motor with it and if you have tv out on your laptop,put picture on your tv.the skystar option will save you a lot of money if you do not mind having your laptop on all the time.have a look at this forum http://dvbn.happysat.org/ ,good place for ss2 .check ebay.de where you can get the sg2100 http://cgi.ebay.de/DiSEqC-1-2-MOTOR-SG-2100-A-fuer-Spiegel-bis-120cm-BestHQ_W0QQitemZ5798776097QQcategoryZ85437QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    thanks Mayto. I am not a programmer or too familiar with DOS, LINUX etc etc and the idea that i have to programme the dreambox is slightly freaking me out. if there is anyone including you or a idiots guide or a primer step by step on how to take the dbox out of a box and then .......
    alternatively as i have asked if anyone could kindly show me their set up and i could see for myself and undertsand it quickly.
    i cannot have the PCI CARD as i have a laptop only and no pc so either a USB version ...sadly very few of these around otherwise DBOX.
    I have to make a decision about wether or not to get SKY installed inmy new place ? or wether i should fork out on a dreambox, motorised dish with Quad LNB and trying to get that worked up .please help required urgently otherwise IT WILL BE 12 MONTH CONTRACT.by the way IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE SKY On DREAMBOX ? will it be subscription as well or is there a way around that ?
