B&Q Kitchens and others...

Getting the kitchen done and basically have just started looking around. Last week went to both B&Q and Budget Kitchens. Booked an appointment with B&Q with one of their designers and will have that in 2 weeks. We picked out some things that interested us.

Then to Budget Kitchens where they were good and did go through a lot with us. They took our number however and said they would ring on Monday with more info, but of course they never did.

So just wondering if anyone has advice or experiences with anyone. We have a tiler and we're not quite sure how we'll go about fitting it yet. B&Q apparently offer the whole package I believe and Budget recomment fitters.

Anyone go through any of these?

B&Q total package costs will bankrupt you. If you can organise your own fitting ect, you will save a fortune.

I posted a few days ago about noyeks and their kitchens.
There doors are cheap but i'm not sure about the carcacases.(i went for the snazzy ones)

Both they, Cash and Carry, and InHouse have loads of business cards and i'm sure that they'd know who are the better etc

Yeah Kadman is right - B & Q are in effect the same as Budget...neither use their own fitters - everything is subcontracted. Jus the B & Q subcontractors seem to charge an exorbitant price.

We bought our kitchen through B & Q & fitted it ourself...no major hassle, but saved a fortune

In-house.ie previously known as the panelling centre have a brilliant showrooms.I went to the one in Cork and they did a full 3d CAD design and the price was very reasonable.

Just a note -a friend recently bought a kitchen from Ikea.

He went to Scotland for the day - ryanair - bought the litchen - and they shipped to Dublin - total was 2.5k euro compared to 6k here.
It was 18mm white melamine chipboard carcase's flatpack.
the doors were solid wood and a solid wood countertop.

Look at the ikea website - www.ikea.co.uk.

he is fitting it over the next week or two and I will post pics.

    just another place to try

Alright, so kitchens are reasonably good, just try and sort the fitting yourself.

Budget kitchens gave us a rough estimate of €500 for the fitting what with the kitchen being small and the guy reckoned it would take them a day. I presume I would have to have a skip sorted for the old one.

B&Q advertised that they could do as much as little or as much as possible depending on what you want including taking the old kitchen. So it seems that you pay a lot for all that.

Thanks for in-house CJ. Just looking at their website and there is one up the road from me so I'll check that out at the weekend. Thanks for all the other responses too.
