irelandoffline have asked me to announce their new irc chat forum.

It is Quakenet #irelandoffline

All are welcome...

Quakenet is an irc network. To particpate in irc
you will need an irc client (or find a web interface)

When you have connected to a Quakenet server then you must join
#irelandoffline (/j #irelandoffline)

Some clients are mirc (www.mirc.com)
BitchX / Klient and numerous others.

Hopefully that should cover it.
Please ask here if you have any questions...

A simple tutorial on setting this stuff up:

Download the client from here:
http://mirror.public-internet.org/mirc/mirc616.exe

Click Yes...Yes...Install and wait for the installation to complete.

After installation you will get a screen like this:

Click the box "Launch mIRC" then click Finish.

The program will start up:

Click "Continue".

A setup screen will popup:

Fill in as you need but put a unique "Nickname".

In the left panel under "Connect" click "Servers" and setup as shown.

Click "OK" after its setup as shown.

Click the Connect icon under "File"

After the writing flies past and you hear a couple of bell sounds you will see this:

T1_-1_563535.JPG

Type #irelandoffline into the prompt then click "Join".

Thats it you can now chat!!!

If you're a Trillian user, setting up the channel is very much like adding an IM account. Just use ie.quakenet.org::6667-6669 in the server field.

If you have mIRC installed, you can just click on this link to start mIRC and have it automatically connect to the correct network and channel.
