UK viewing card issue with Sky+

    Hi,

I've just upgraded to Sky+. However, my UK viewing card which I got a few months ago through one of my mates who's based in England no longer picks up ITV1, Channel 4 or five. It worked fine on the old non Sky+ digibox.

Is there any way round this problem or do I need my mate to request another card from Sky? (keeping in mind that he's got ordinary Sky digital, not Sky+).

    Thanks in advance,
    skyway.

Leave it in the box. It'll 'wake up' after a day or so.

    What exactly is happening?
Are you saying that you have ITV and 4 in the other box but not in the sky plus box?
If thats the case then the card is fine and leaving it in your sky plus box is not the answer.

What epg have you when you put it in your sky plus box incidently?
Lately with card switching, the EPG sometimes gets stuck on the Irish one, thats why I ask and hence ITV will not appear obviously.
The only way around that is to reboot the box.

I switched off Sky+, disconnected it from the mains, took out the Irish card, inserted the UK card, powered up the box, then switched on Sky after a minute or so.

    101 - BBC 1 N West - OK
    102 - BBC 2 - OK
103 - ITV1 Granada - FYI....Call your broadcaster to upgrade your subscription to receive this channel
    104 - Channel 4 - Same message as ITV1
    105 - five - Same message as ITV1
    118 - ITV2 - Same message as ITV1

    BBC3, BBC4 and ITV3 are also OK.

Note: it's over six weeks since the UK card was last used (and that was in my old digibox).

Maybe I should leave the card in the box overnight or something like that.....

    Thanks,
    skyway.

Doh! Why didn't I think of that?

I'm seriously thinking of getting a used or refurb'd Sky+ box to put my UK viewing card into. I want to be able to record a bunch of shows from Ch4, but more especially BBC3 and BBC4.

Will the SKY+ functionality work given that the card won't have any of the Sky premium channels ?

If its a subscription card you would have to upgrade to use Sky+, ie pay extra .
FTV cards do not allow you to use the Sky+ features
