Boo Hoo - No 'Johnno' for Mayo !

Johnno was on this morning ruling himself out of all management jobs for the next year.

Puts Mayo in a bit of a spot, as he is the preferred choice amongst every single person in Mayo, yet we are going to need a manager, who will be reluctant to be a 'stop-gap' and take on a one year tenure.

Now I think it will be have to be someone who has nothing to lose and is prepared to take the job on those terms ....one year contract, and at the same time for that person to be in a win-win situation in that Mayo people's expectations are very low at the moment, a deep gloom has descended over it's continuous inability to select and manage a two teams that were good enough to win Sam.

I'm guessing this might suit Paudi O'Shea now, maybe Liam McHale who might be able to bring the Ballina players (current All-Ireland club champions) back into the squad.

    Any opinions?

It's a tough job, but they are a county with a lot of potential. The pressure will be on for whoever takes it. Connacht titles are not enough. Neither is 3 All-Irelands.

What did he do for Cavan football?

I was being sarcastic - he gave us probably the worst season of Championship football Cavan had in a while. Cavan lost to Antrim in the first round of the Ulster Championship, were labelled Ulster's worst team, and then scrapped to a narrow victory past a very poor Louth team before losing to Limerick.
