Firewall Hiding Files

    Hi,
Some times if I get a file off somebody on MSN Messenger, my Windows Service Pack 2 Firewall hides it and wont let me open it once it's downloaded. Is there any way I can turn this off? I want to be able to open whatever I want and not have windows deciding for me.

    Thanks for any feedback:)

switch of the firewall and replace with one that works zone alarm free for instance.

You'll have to switch of the annoying reminders as well. Forgotten where they were as I unloaded sp2 as it's a pain in the neck (And fixed SFA anyway).

    AVG free
    Zone Alarm Free
    Spybot Free
    Ad-Aware Free
    History Kill - $40 (coughs ;) )

Used that package now for 3/half years and I've only rarely had the odd raised eyebrow in slight annoyance.
I also use 'Panda online Active scan' as a back up check.

Tried the 'Anti-Spy' garbage ms came out with at the begining of the year - it lasted about 10mins.

anyway - you can turn it off and (If I remember right) You open the control panel for it and switch off the reminders via some Advanced options.

    :)

i think thats a property if msn messenger and not windows firewall. Update to latest MSN messenger then install the patch from www.mess.be. It will allow you to remove the block on several file extensions. Amongst other tweaks.

(Ability to send unlimited nudges can be fun! :D )
