Hardware analysis tools?

What are reccommended hardware analysis tools for iBooks? I think my hard drive might be in the process of dying right now - all my data is backed up, but I want to try and track down the problem before I decide to go sending it off for repair.

Use the apple hardware test software that you got with your mac and if its still under garantee ring apple now.
