Optiplex 270 HELP ASAP

    O lets get this baby workin.
    Sitting besid me is a dell optiplex GX270 totally bog standard. Problem is as follows.

    She wont POST at all.
    CPU and PSU Fans all working grand so MB is getting power.
    Now heres the weird bit. With the IDE cable PLUGGED OUT the HDD and CD drives will spin up grand. However with the cables back in they dont do anything just lie there.

    NY ideas /help/suggestions? Kinda ASAP Emergency here Cheers in advance all!

    have u added new drives ?

    are jumpers set correctly master/slave/auto on disks and cds ?

    did you check the molex connectors on the PSU with a MULTIMETER to make sure the correct volatages are getting through?

    No new drives derives are getting the power jsut not when hooked up yo the MB!

    did you try another PSU? Check the voltage rails with a multimeter if you have one as well. There could be some part of your PSU failing and may not be able provide enough of juice.. Also try different IDE cables to see does it make any difference. Try it with just the PSU, mb, hdd, memory only and see what happens as well.

    Did you check the status indicator lights on the rear of the chassis (ABCD)? They can point you in the right direction (check the dell support site to see which combination means).

    Nope no LED's on this one. Tried with second psu, no luck. Hdd is good just tried oin another ,achine. Would think MB is fuXXord but its still supplying powergrand.

    Get your hands a multimeter if you can and check the voltage rails where the PSU connects the mb and see if your getting anything there! did you try different ram?

    It had been dropped! The CPU had become unseated and that was messin everything up!! Cheers lads your all a great help.
