could be asked to a number of things:

1.Diagnose a fault on the PC: e.g. loose memory, disconnected hard drive, etc

2.set up hardware on pc:e.g. set up printer, network

3.software setup:internet/email settings, install program, verify working

4. diagnose software fault, etc

the above is an example of some of the things i was asked to do when i got a technicians job.
