Has anyone any ideas on getting white emulsion paint off tarmac?

Tried White spirits but that just started loosening the tarmac.
Tried powerhosing to not much effect either.

Any ideas (other than painting the tarmac black!)?

    Thanks, N.

they seem to burn it off when they do the public roads... with a blow torch...

    Hi,

The stuff on the roads is actually a white or yellow bitumen based product that is why they can burn it off.

Emulsion shouldn't get a very good hold on tarmac, I would be more concerned with an oil based paint.

Given time it will wear off the tarmac, if you must remove it you could try a wire brush or a sanding pad in a drill.

Get a six year old and a damp cloth - it works for walls. :D

Some detergent, water and a stiff nylon brush?

Dare I say it..."Oh dear,I've dropped some black paint on the white paint, oopsy." :D Then walk it in while nearly dry and throw some dirt on it too blend it in. ;)

    Thanks for that lads,

Cant find a 6-year old so will just have to go with plan B and just let it wear off! Might try getting a bit more tarmac and go over it again.

water washable Nitromors (green tin) and a stiff brush...don't leave it on too long or it'll not do the tarmac any good.

White spirits will do nothing for emulsion/latex/acrylic based paints, either wet or dry, and it won't do much for dried oil paint either.
