scrumpy jack is just really strong cider. 6% i think. it tastes like cider except stronger. simple as. vinegar and salad dressing doesnt come into it.

I'm not sure, I can't remember the taste very well.
    t'was many years ago.
I wouldn't be surprised if it did taste like vinegar though.
I know there's a whole thing about wine going bad and turning to vinegar (or is it the other way around?), but I'm not sure if cider can go a bit off
Just as long as it doesn't taste like drain cleaner or floor polish :p

yeah wine turns into vinegar (literally) when the ethanol in it oxidises to ethanoic acid (present in vinegar) with very acidic (and ciderous) effects.

sorry about my invention of the word ciderous :P

ahh scrumpy jack... we were only talking about it earlier (after doing the knacker test and it asked about Dutch Gold)
cider, my first drink... the memories!! it's cheap, only alright as far as I remember, it doesn't taste like vinegar though, if it did, I wouldn't have drunk it!

Scrumpy Jack is a brand name of cider right enough, I like it, but it's nothing like real scrumpy that you get in Cornwall and Somerset in England. Small orchards make their own scrumpy (cider) and sell it at country markets and the like in the sticks there and it would blow your head off. It's much stronger than Bulmers/Magners or any of the mass produced stuff we get here in cans.

It doesn't last very long though, because generally there are no preservatives in it, so if you have real scrumpy there, Endurance Man, it might well have gone off, and it will, turn to vinegar, as has been said. Shame that, because the real stuff is deadly.
