I'm talking about the show on E4 right now. A bit of a documentary on Lost. It's so-so, nothing new for US viewers, but spoileriffic for Irish viewers, and more importantly, UK viewers, which is quite bent for E4's target audience! Things that were given away include:
    The hatch.
    Polar bears.
    Boone covered in blood.
    Jack going after Ethan.
Charlie pointing a gun at Ethan.
    Jin fighting Michael.
    Sawyer fighting Charlie.
Sawyer being tortured by Sayid and Jack.
They also mentioned something about Locke being in a wheelchair, but I'm not 100% sure whether they gave it all away or not.

No doubt they'll give away more, but I couldn't be bothered waiting until the end of the show to finish this post!

By the way, hearing Naveen Andrews (Sayid) speaking with an English accent is crazy!

(edit: they also mis-spelled Claire (Clare) on one of the photographs!)

    Theories from the show:

    1) Plane crash was a wormhole that lead to a different planet. - Pfft.
    2) Island is like "Jurassic Park" and the surviviors are part of an experiment - Pfft.
    3) Survivors are actually dead and are in purgatory. - Could be the most interesting idea!

Hasn't the purgatory been said by the creators as definitely not one

just watching it on e4 +1. How stupid are they putting it on without ther series finished here. Thank god i've seen them all.

Your man who plays jack hit the nail on the head: the reason it's so popular is because you really, never no whats going to come next.

I think it is Channel 4's mission to ruin this show for people. Not should Lost Revealed not have been shown until after episode 18,on the Channel 4 Lost site, they have bios for every character. In the bios they gave away A LOT of info on the character's background, including
Locke being in a wheelchair and Walt being "special"
They removed the Locke thing after many complaints! :p

    Yeah, it was debunked.
He didn't rule out them being punished in some way though.

I saw this yesterday on C4...about a half hour before they repeated the first 2 episodes

There were a lot of spoilers indeed. However, since we've already seen it, do you think the spoilers are more obvious to us than to someone just getting into it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

Well, yeah, but if I had only started watching Lost on Channel 4, I still wouldn't fancy being riddled with scenes from upcoming shows. There's plenty of time for them when that particular show actually airs. What's the rush C4?

I watched 3 episodes of Lost back to back last night to see what all the fuss was about. Loved it, the writing and the characters ........... then E4 show Lost Revealed and totally fcuked up future viewing for me.

I'll probably still watch but certain twists have been ruined.

I definitely think most of it will have gone over c4 viewers heads, but it annoyed me!! Especially the Ethan bit and the hatch thing! Remind me in future to listen to my boyfriend when he tells me not to watch things like that!!

On the Locke thing - they didnt actually give it away, but they showed the scene when they were refusing to let him go on the Walkabout... just not the very end of it which would have given it away totally.

something that really annoyed me when I glanced at the C4 Lost was what they cut out.. Episode one: during the first scene on the beach where Jack is pulling people from the wreckage, they cut out the person who, when pulled out we see has had his legs severed..

also, at the end, they cut out the shot of the pilot hanging from the tree which I feel is pretty important to the atmosphere and such... basically the last scene in the episode is charlie pointing up at the tree asking how it happened, but the viewers never actually see the pilot's body..

It's not that big, but to me it was quite annoying..no doubt they'll cut out more..

Enjoyed "Lost Revealed", but only from the perspective of having seen the entire first series. For those in the UK who are only on episode 3, or those in this country on ep 14, it was insane to include as much information as they did.

I've seen similar interview launch shows for Lost which didn't spoil ANYTHING upcoming back at its US premiere. There are particular ways this kind of thing should be done. Channel 4 failed miserably with this special (though it would have been find months later) and the hash job on the pilot episode (including the pilot-in-the-tree shot, though all missing material was back in on Saturday's repeat), and RTE failed with that awful promo that spoiled the Ethan revelation.

You can always count on a national broadcaster to botch it up.

'Lost' spoilers a headache for UK fans
Monday, August 15 2005, 15:54 BST -- by Neil Wilkes

Fans of the new Channel 4 smash Lost have been reacting angrily to the abundance of 'spoilers' in the UK media.

Many newspapers and magazines - as well as Channel 4 - have been unable to contain themselves from the lure of detailing key plotlines from episodes yet to be shown.

The Sun revealed details of one of the show's central themes - not fully realised until later in the series - last week, before the show even aired, while today's Daily Star featured images and details of a twist not to due to be shown for another two months.

Not even Channel 4 provides a safe haven from the unwanted revelations.

The show's official website includes an interactive puzzle, 'The Untold', which features details of an upcoming storyline involving Jack (Matthew Fox).

Meanwhile, Lost Revealed, a programme broadcast on E4 last weekend, was laden with footage from episodes stretching to the end of the season.

"It's too early in the series to be shown," complained one poster on the C4 website. "Too late now. Millions of people spoiled. Good job E4."

Added another: "Damn stupid idiots for airing it, they know that people can have only seen 3 episodes. I hate knowing the characters more in depth now... I feel like certain people's mystery is gone."

Why can't the just sync up the airing of the show in America and Europe like with movies?

I've seen all the episodes but if I was seeing spoilers unintentionally, I'd be pissed.

Synching up airtimes will happen eventually, I reckon. "Other means" may ultimately make it difficult for broadcasters to do otherwise. As it stands, the only reason for the gap is to allow a sufficient build-up of episodes for shows to run on this side of the Atlantic without interruption. (Of course, that didn't stop E4/C4 from waiting until now to start Lost when it could easily have aired it last January as originally intended.)

As for the spoilers, if anyone saw yesterday's Sun 'newspaper', you'd have been treated to an article on the Bizarre page, complete with pictures of (ep 11 spoiler)
Charlie hanging from a tree, Jack doing CPR on an inset picture, a shocked picture of Kate, and the headline "HOBBIT HANGED!"
which gave details of what would happen TWO MONTHS from now on Channel 4.

I had never been so relieved to have watched something in advance of both RTE and UK broadcasters before than when I saw that picture. Imagine the shock of seeing that heart-stopping moment in the show proper being ruined by a picture from a newspaper?! Seems nothing is sacred anymore, and the Sun, like Channel 4 and RTE don't seem to realise that promotion can ruin enjoyment (or in the Sun's case, that was seemingly their intent.)

As usual, anyone who's bothered, feel free to e-mail bizarre@the-sun.co.uk to try to get them to stop ruining the show for those who haven't seen it yet.

Not that I'm a regular reader of that 'paper', but as something to pass the time at lunch yesterday, I could easily have been very sorry I bothered. It may soon get to the point where a future season 2 revelation (say, ultimately the identity/picture of the monster or the contents of the
    hatch
) will be revealed by an cruel and idiotic journalist who can't let a surprise remain that.

Well then, you know what to do to avoid such things ;)

Yeah, but if it gets to a point where you can't read any paper for fear of having something spoiled, than that's a bit inconsiderate! I fully expect that if a vital new development happens, say a character's death in a US episode, the UK tabloids will reveal this even before the episode airs in the *US*. That's part of the problem with the show becoming more popular. UK tabloids have no scruples! And unlike US sites (like zap2it.com or E!), the importance of spoilers is lost (pardon the pun) on most TV journalists in these parts.

I remember a similar fuss years ago over the ending to the first season of Twin Peaks when it was revealed in a UK tabloid.

Think I may have to go into a hatch of my own and watch season two down there... To be fair to oceanair-air.com and the trailers released for season two so far by the producers and ABC, have had no vital spoilers within them. But I think this year, I'll probably hold off on each week's promo - as cool and well produced as I think they are - until after I see the episode.
