    Found this on the net... Its a video taken from onboard an american aircraft carrier. An engineer is working beside an aircraft and is sucked into one of its engine's. Don't click if your sqweemish.

    Anyone know if the guy survived ??

    Im pretty sure i seen that on a tv show once, and apparently the guy DID survive, i cant remember how.

    I think I saw that on Ripley's Believe it or not once, which probably means he manged to survive somehow.

    As said yes he survived, something to do with his helmet hitting the blades or something or other.

    Found this piece on another site that had this clip:
    "The video you are talking about has made the rounds for years. The reason the crewman survived is there is a small pitot-type air sensor in the A-6 inlet. His belt caught on that and his helmet was up against the spinner of the engine. Gear from his vest including his flashlight were what fodded the engine. If you watch the video you will see that he was the safety man coming foreward to verify the new guy had correctly set the catapult dogbone. When he reaches the area next to the intake he was out of position from his normal path as he had to let the other guy head aft inboard so when he stood up he was too near the suction. The last thing you can see him do is turn to look at the intake as he realises his mistake!

    The jet blast is powerful, but the blades aren't. Much like the rest of an aircraft, they're made from light metals, really not designed to take any beatings. It's why large birds hitting the engines can be dangerous too.
