The following is the format for the BSOP. It is expected that all members who have registered to play will endeavour to participate where possible. The drawings for the monthly qualifiers are based on the registered numbers so even a few withdrawls can cause a problem.

If you cannot continue to participate please inform me.

The BSOP will start in September and run for eight months (Sept-Apr). Each month there will be eight qualifying tournaments. These qualifiers will be made up from the registered players - every player getting to participate in one qualifier per month.

The winnng player from each qualifier will progress to the monthly BSOP final. These players will fight it out for the monthly BSOP title and a share in the prize pool. Each of the 8 finalists will recieve BSOP points which accumulate throughout the eight months. The 9 players with the highest points totals will play in the the BSOP World Series final. Where there is a tie on points the player with the most BSOP monthly titles will progress. If there is still a tie then a mini tournament will determine the outcome.

The entry fee for each month is €50. €25 goes into the monthly prize pool and €25 goes into the BSOP World Series final in January. The prize breakdown is 50%, 30%, 20% of the total prize pool.

Both the BSOP monthly tournaments and the BSOP World Series final are freeze-out tournaments - you get 3000 in chips and there are no rebuys.

There are 69 players registered giving a prize pool for each monthly BSOP of €1725 and a BSOP World Series pool of €13800 - providing everyone plays every month.

For the September heat you must pay for both September & October, then each month after that you are paying for the next month. So in September you will pay €100 - and nothing in April.

There will be 5 qualifiers of 9 players and 3 qualifier of 8 players every month.

There is no restriction if the individual players of a qualifier want to have their own seperate prize pool for that qualifier alone. The only stipulation is that the correct entry free for the BSOP is collected and passed on.

Each of the qualifiers must be played within the first 3 weeks of the month. The players within each qualifier can decide where the heat is located but if one isn't chosen by the end of the first week then I will impose a location/date/time.

The final will be played in the last week of the month at a location of my choosing. If you cannot attend the final then you are awarded last place - you cannot send someone in your place.

Again if you feel that you cannot commit to the format above, please contact me so that we can remove you from the competition.

The first drawings will be made this week and posted up on the site - best of luck to everyone.

    Hyzepher

Sorry, I'm a bit slow. they are being held in peoples houses again yeah?
I think with this many qualifiers there many be scheduling problems where the law will have to be laid down.

Many thanks to Hyzepher for organising this again this. Perhaps we should have a BSOP sub forum this year? I can see the threads being numberous!

If it's running into April the you'll have to scratch me off the list. I'm moving back to Limerick at the start of February.

Eight qualifiers not three - sorry.

Games in peoples houses is preferable but not compulsory.

I want to play as much as possible but may find it dificult to travel on certain dates. Hope this doesn't cause a problem. I'm also hopefully getting a table in my Apt so that I can offer a venue sometime in the near future.

I'm unstickyfying this thread because the strucure may change once the online registration is complete and we have more accurate numbers. The timeline is the same though so only register if you think you can play for the months involved.

Are the tournies played on specific evenings eg Sat nights only, or is it more felxible - 3 nights a week are always going to be out for me, otherwise Im in

I would like to play in this so if you could put my name down that would be great. I only know Doc Farrell, Amp and Marq, so I could give one of them the money. Getting work done on my house so i hope to have it finished after Crimbo so can donate the house for a night no problems. Cheers

ps. sorry just registered so thanks. It will be good to put face to some of the names, good luck one and all.

It will work similar to last time. The heats are announced and then the players try to agree on a day in that month to play it so it is flexible.

I have a feeling I will have to bow out of this one too... If only because of living in Mayo. Think it might prove too awkward.

Shame because I have a nice home game set up here.. Perhaps one way around this might be to have a regional BSOP game at double the buy in and double the points once every two months so that we can compete agaiinst the Dub based players? Of course we'd need to know how many non Dub based players would be interested in that.
