Do i need DVI

    i am gettin a new graphics card...the 7800...it uses DVI interface..do i need to get a moniter that uses dvi or do i just need VGA on the moniter..

    U can just get an adapter, there is usally 1 supplied with the card.

    yeah should be one with card especially if its an nvidia, i have 2 dvi's out on my 6600gt and they supplied 2 dvi to vga adaptors.

    and does using the adapter do anything to the quality of the graphics comin out of it..or will it be just the same as using dvi..sorry if its a bit of a noob question thats because i am one

    If you're using a regular VGA monitor, then no, on difference. If you were using an LCD monitor with a DVI connection on a regular, analogue VGA port then you may have a small loss of quality.

    Basically, DVI > VGA, as DVI is digital from end to end. Analogue to digital conversion occurs when using VGA.

    so the 7800 has an DVI interface on the back..and the moniter im gettin is an lcd 19 inch..with only VGA ..and if i use the adapter i get with the card there wont be any loss of quality will there?

    No. It'd be the same as if the card had a VGA port on the back.
