 That is scary. And the smug look on his face at the end.

Apparently he used to play 'Eruption' at Cacophony gigs with one hand, while playing with a yoyo with the other hand. Unbelievably talented fella, it's an incredible tragedy what happened to him :(

Man, I would love to see him play Eruption one handed!

Does anyone else think that sucked? ;)

It sounded awful, way too rushed!

The song should be played clean, not "strangle a cat" distortion.

I don't think he was trying to revolutionise the world of emotional playing, it was **** for ****'s sake and it was top drawer fret **** IMO.

anyone else think his picking technique is awful! ? Works for him though, pretty cool.

Yeah, he's resting his fingers on the pickguard, huge mistake. But it doesn't seem to stop him :D

Crikey, that was some damn fine playing.

What's wrong with resting fingers on a pickguard? I can't see how that would inhibit playing at all.

it slows you down and inhibits movement.

    Indeed, but how so?

well i rest my pinky on the pick guard, you can't just have you hand floating above the bridge, or at least i can't.. The thing i was pointing out was that he's not really picking from the rist, he's using his whole arm.

    you're joking of course ?

Don't do this! Look at your right hand as you play. Here are two tip-offs that you have extra tension: the fingers not holding the pick curl in to the hand, as if to make a fist, or the wrist presses itself on to the face of the guitar, while the unfortunate guitarist continues to play as well as they can under the circumstances. (Another sign will be pressing on the guitar with the pinky).

Quoted from another site. Pressing with the pinky is exactly what he's doing in the video.

Lol, people criticising Jason Becker's technique.... ;)

do you not touch your guitar or something while you play? I can't see how it's possible to play comfortably without resting some fingers on the guitar(obviously not while strumming)

I say do whatever works for you. I couldn't play with my picking hand unsupported.
