    Date: October 1st/2nd
Location: Billy O'Sullivans Kick Boxing Gym, Jute Factory, Tycor, Waterford.
Cost: 50 euro for 1 day, 80 for both. If you pre-pay a week in advance, both days will go for 70 euro.

On October 1st & 2nd, both John and Karl will be running a weekend seminar spanning two days down here in Waterford. John's last seminar down here was a complete success considering we set it up on such short notice. Vital clinch and groundwork will be covered and this is a chance not to be missed.

Although most of you know who John is, for those who don't - He's Ireland's highest ranked Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and head of SBG Ireland. Karl is UK's SBG counterpart.

If you are interested, e-mail me at john@fckvwls.com or message me on here. Places are limited so book soon to avoid dissapointment. This should be another success. Look forward to seeing you all there!

    John O'B.

John is the Peanut Butter and Karl is the Jelly that make up this perfect sandwich of cutting edge training. You'd want to be an idiot to miss this weekend.

Not been back out to Tramore since, we're both back to work so last week I was baby minding and this week I'm working evenings :(
Will get out when our schedules allow it though. How's the training going over there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Training is going great. Roger came back yesterday and took the advanced class. It was great.. We worked on some spider guard sweeps, some throws and then rolled for a bit. I was 2-2, so it wasn't that bad.

what kind of throws? am i correct in assuming you're keeping count of the people you've tapped and that have tapped you?

Just some hip throws. And not really, I just remembered who I tapped and who tapped me. It's not like I was keeping count.

lol! in sayin that i could COUNT the number of white and blue belts on one hand i've met who were not keeping a tab on who tapped who in training :D

I nearly tapped Royce Gracie once. I just couldn´t finish the triangle - Rickson was there and I asked him what I was doing wrong and he just shrugged to say he didn´t know. I was like WTF kind of black belt are you? Then I woke up and had a pop tart.

Great Mark, looking forward to seeing you there!

Me too! Cheers Mark, it'll be nice to have another TKD guy there with all those MMA hard cases :)

Seriously though, be nice to meet some more of the interweb lads and the last seminar was super!! for my chiropractor................I'll get me coat................

Would it be ok if I brung another TKD guy along? He's a Waterford trained guy and in MA years,I think he'd love a go of MMA/SBG/BJJ and that. He's not on the interweb much but he's a good guy and got me into training,I'd like to repay him with a look at the other stuff that's about. He's interested but doesn't know what to expect, sound familiar?

Would it be ok if I brung another...

seminar open to ALL.....no politics, just training :D

What John said. Everybody is welcome!

Good stuff lads and exactly what I expected!
Was chatting to a local Shotokan instructor and he may come down as well??

What kind of numbers can we hold at the seminar,I know it's gonna be bigger than the last one but I don't want to swamp things either!!
The last seminar was very cool as only a few knew about John, this time we have John and Karl coming down! Any where else it'd be on the telly as a major martial arts event!
Really looking forward to this and future visits from the SBG lads, hopefully if John and my own TKD instructor agree I'd love to host JK here in Dungarvan.
Luke (my TKD instructor) is pretty open to new stuff and if it benefits the students I'm pretty sure he'd be up for it! Teaching MA is his livelihood,so he's got that in common with JK for a start. And it's pretty obvious that MMA is what all the cool kids will be doing going forward. Anyone ignoring the impact of K1 or UFC/Pride will suffer with students dropping off to study these fight styles.
Anyway, enough out of me but I'll see some of ye on the mat, Dolf and Shane sooner hopefully!!

    not at my seminars! :D

    fair enough.

who want's to beat that in <10 years JK will have a rival organisation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭columok

There are rival organisations as in.... people who compete in the MMA circuit in terms of business and in terms of the sport. This is true of any sport. Now a healthy sports club in a healthy competitive environment doesnt degenerate into the kinda rubbish prevalent in the majority of martial arts.

No need. No need to talk about original, authentic, Brazilian TM or anything else. What works, works. Its proven on the matt. No hearsay, no lineage, no need.

    define 'rival organisation'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33 venice_irk

    chill guys.

i wasn't being too serious but it is certainly possible that someone will same to themselves "i don't like the may XY is running this organisation, i'm going to splinter off and start my own".

in fairness i'm just waffling i don't really know.

I'm lost. Let's not slide off topic, keep this thread for interest for the seminar.

Places will be limited folks, so message me soon to avoid dissapointment. This is going to be a really solid experience. Anyone down here who went to John's last seminar have nothing but good words to say about him. Infact, some changed the way they looked at martial arts completely. It's an eye opener for sure.
