Great win by Powerscourt in the Arlington Million last night. Top work by O'Brien and Fallon. Anyone else see it?

Anyway, today is looking like favourite's day to me. 3 bets, all favs. I suppose I'm just asking for trouble by making these selections public.

    Leopardstown 3:45 - Shalapour
Even though it's being used as a trial for the English Leger for him, I think the 18lbs he gets from Vinnie Roe should be more than enough to allow him to win this. Priced around 4/5.

    Bath 4:30 - Shohrah
A 1m listed race for fillies. She ran twice as a 2yo, winning her debut easily and then coming 5th in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot behind some useful types. Needed her first run this season when a staying-on 5th over 7f. Around 9/4.

    Leopardstown 4:45 - Caradak
Around 11/10. I expect him to hose up in this G3 before moving up to a G1 for his next race.

Race of the day is the Prix Jacques Le Marois (Deauville 2:15). Eagerly anticipating this one. Hopefully it'll live up to expectations. Won't be having a bet though.

Shalapour seems a huge price at 4/5. Whats with that?

Shalapour drifts to 5/4, gets ahead of Vinnie Roe but is beaten by Chelsea Rose. Fitness told more than ability I think.

Shohrah drifts to 10/3 and runs very poorly. She's surely better than that but she's off my list now until she shows it.

Caradak, into 4/5, wins but had to work a lot harder than Kinane thought he'd have to.

I had more on Caradak than the other two, so made some profit :) but I never mentioned any staking plan in the original post so that means it's really a level stakes loss. :(

Tomorrow - Roscommon 5:50 - Nakiska - I've been waiting yonks for this filly to run again since she appeared in my notebook. She's been entered in maidens pretty much every week for the past three months but has never been in the final declarations. I'm assuming then that she's fit to run well despite the layoff. Weld and Oxx have two good types in the race which will hopefully mean a reasonable price for my selection.

Nice tipping on Nakiska Crumbs. Had forgotten about your nod, and backed it on the strength of Scargills thread.

Pity about Shalapour yesterday. Everyone including the jock had thought he only had Vinnie Roe to beat it would seem.

Yeah, my notebook came good for a change. Very happy with the SP too. I almost don't feel bad now about scargill stealing my thunder. :p

Yep, it was a shame but that's racing. In fairness, we were told that Shalapour wasn't 100% fit and also the winner was a Group 1 winner who was dropping in class.

From the formline that gave you Nakiska last Monday, comes another pretty little filly, Princess Nala.

After finishing 4 lengths in front of Nakiska and 2 lengths behind Irish Derby 6th, Helvetio, Princess Nala then won her maiden beating Briolette in early June. Briolette has since finished 2nd to today's York winner Kastoria (and will hopefully win her own maiden in Tralee next Monday). Princess Nala runs tonight in a nice little 5-runner race, Tipperary 8:20. The favourite is AP O'Brien's Streets Of Gold and 2nd fav is Weld's Clearing The Water. Both have put up decent performances in winning maidens and it makes for an interesting race (imo anyway). I think the 11/4 on Princess Nala is a little bit of value. Also, trainer Mick Halford is in good form and Johnny Murtagh has already ridden a winner for him tonight.

Good call there Crumbs. It's always nice to see somebody rewarded for putting the effort into studying the form.
