UK Video & Audio Content blocked from UK

Apologies if this has been asked before:

My computer is obviously set to an Irish setting as I bought it in Ireland but unfortunately that seems to ensure that I am blocked from getting content from the UK (e.g. BBC Radio 5 football live streaming and Channel 4 video streaming). Is there any setting to change locally on your computer to enable UK content or is the content blocked somewhere on the network?

    Thanks

It's more than likely any blocking of that type is down to your IP address and nothing on the computer itself

The BBC and Channel 4 do restrict some streaming aspects to the UK only, which they can narrow down to your IP address. As its Irish, it won't.

There is a solution to this problem. If they are blocking based on your IP address then all you need to do is connect to the site through a proxy server located in the UK. Google "free proxy servers" for lists, look for "anonymous" servers, these do not forward your IP address but instead use there own, so instead of the UK websites seeing 159.134.x.x (eircom) they may see 213.230.x.x (A UK address).

To change the proxy settings on Internet Explorer (does not work with dial-up connections) Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings. Click use proxy server and Enter the port and host for your proxy server.

For firefox click tools > options > connection settings.
