    Hello!

I'm looking to start drumming lessons in Dublin City Centre.

    Must be reasonably priced.

I want to take them up because -

    1. Drumming is cool
    2. I want some upper body fitness

Am I mad on my #2 above, or do you reckon drumming is a good workout????

And... do you know anywhere I can take up drumming lessons??

    Thanks.

I dunno about No. 2 myself. Unless you are a skin puncturing head banging adrenaline junkie when you play, you'll really only be tanking up your wrists and thats about it (if you play with technique).

Yeah, I wouldn't be too sure about number 2 myself either. The whole objective is to develop racehorse type muscles to play fast rather than the bodybuilding, bulky type of muscles.
For a starter course I think the Irish Drumming Academy under the Temple Bar Music Centre is pretty good

Tbh, I'd actually recommend you do some upper body (and leg, come to think of it) workout in addition to improve your drumming. Light weight, high reps etc. I noticed a considerable improvement in my timing and consistancy when I was in proper training. Drumming itself shouldn't really put any kind of strain on you if you're fit and your technique is correct.

Gigs are always good for a bit of cardiovascular workout, of course. :)
