"Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I've never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn't making, and maybe even more than those. Crazy crisp dialogue. Incredibly tight plotting. Big emotion, I mean BIG, and charsimatic actors and I was just DYING from the mystery and the relationships and PAIN, this show knows from pain and no, I don't care, laugh all you want, I had to share this. These guys know what they're doing on a level that intimidates me."

    i agree with him 100%

Veronica Mars = LOST X 10 in terms of awesomeness!

Where did that come from? Link please! :)

Its a great show indeed, maybe not 10 times better than Lost,on par with it anyway!

Id like to see Joss write or direct an episode of VM,that would be great.

Whedon's got great taste.... personally, 'Veronica Mars' is fantastic. Amazing acting, great script, well drawn-out characters but 'Lost' is all that and more!

But 'Lost' and 'Veronica Mars' were by far, my 2 favourite shows of the last few years!

Both very refreshing in their own right!

Waht is this Veronica Mars show you talk about?

Waht is this Veronica Mars show you talk about?
It's a teen drama with a girl who's at high school with a detective job investigating crimes and..... i've lost you already :D... it's nowhere as bad as i'm making it sound!

LivingTV have bought the rights to it and should be showing it sometime in the Autumn.

    More information here!
VERONICA MARS is set in the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, where the rich and powerful make the rules, own the town and the high school, and desperately try to keep their dirty little secrets just that…secret. Unfortunately for them, there's Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) a smart, fearless 17-year-old, apprentice private investigator dedicated to solving the town's toughest mysteries.

You're right it does sound bad. :p But if its shown here i may give it a look in

its somewhat similarish in style to early Buffy but without the fantasy/vampiric plotting(it has guest starred Alyson Hannigan, and will feature Charisma Carpenter as a recurring character in season 2).

it starts off as a somewhat dodgy knockoff of the OC, but quickly hooks you in!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Calling ti a teen show would put people off...but it is nothing like The OC trash, the fact that Joss Whedon likes it is a good thing.

I didn't expect anything from it,TmB sent me all 22 eps,i watched them in 4 days, thats how much i was hooked. it would be hard to choose between Lost and VM (which americans have to do this year),but I might pick Lost as better IMO,but only by a very small margin.

Between this and the Joss comment and the "It's the next Buffy comment" I really couldn't be more excited about this show! WHY hasn't TV3 or somebody got their hands on it yet?

I'm really enjoying this, though I stopped watching it last week when I got delivery fo Freaks and Geeks. Man, why did they kill that series?

Freaks And Geeks - better than any teenage themed show ever produced! No question whatsoever!

And a phenomenal DVD with it full of special features!

Sorry but the unique mix of amazing acting, hilarious writing and truly touching moments it really does (to put it mildly) pis* all over on Buffy, Party Of Five, OC, One Tree Hill etc.

Better get watching then! :D Nah, I was going to watch it when it started
airing over here, anyway... I was! :p

My "cousins" sent me the whole Veronica Mars season 1 a couple of months ago and I have to admit that I got hooked and watched all 22 episodes within a week. It is not as good as Lost but I would still highly recommend it.

Well after reading this thread, I rang my cousins. They're sending the entire show to me! They're really nice!

Strictly in terms of non-fantasy teen-angst shows, My So-Called Life beats Freaks And Geeks hands down. I'm sorry, but early '90s, man.

Here's hoping Joss Whedon will maybe write an episode of Veronica Mars, or even direct it too. Can't wait to see this show when it is aired.

Is it my imagination or does Freaks and Geeks get dragged into every TV thread going?
I watched a really lousy episode of VM last night that nearly turned me off it completely, but I'll stick with it for now.

like i said...it does start off as a dodgy OC knockoff, telling tons of backstory and the like, but thats just necessary to start the proper story of the season...it wont last long, i promise!

sounds like absolute garbage but ill give it a shot

also when is Lost going to start getting good on RTE ? Soon I hope its starting to drag along a bit now

The TV & Satellite Week for next week (came out today) again mentions that Living have bought 'Veronica Mars' and that they'll be showing it this Autumn, so hopefully that means September/October!

The R1 Season 1 DVD is out October 11th anyway :)

Living is certainly on the ball with their new US imports so far this year - Grey's Anatomy is replacing Boston Legal August 29th @ 10pm.

It's no surprise the wrapped it up quite well. They probably had no way of knowing if the show would get picked up for a second series.

Ye it will, but on the other hand it would have gotten annoying if the Lily Kane Murder Mystery was dragged out for a long time. The story over the whole season was very well done.

Ok so ive just seen episode 18, while being very surprised bout veronica's actions (i shall spoil not) im even more surprised about the inclusion of a something happens song - momentary thing! woo yeah!
like... wtf? did it just fall into an obscure music time warp? the song rocks tho...

For those of you still interested in seeing this fantastic show..

'Veronica Mars' will start on 3 October in the UK on LivingTV. It will be shown, daily, at 6pm.

Hmmmmm.... not to spoil too much but considering the fact the first episode alone features murder, rape and drug paraphenalia, ye will probably see about 30 minutes of a 42 minute show!

Do yourself a favour: buy the Region 1 DVD!

Balls. This doesn't bode well. Joan of Arcadia started off in a slot like this recently and was moved back. I never watched it but I did notice that. Plus if this is how a digital station treats it, it won't lead to the likes of the Beeb or C4 taking it very seriously. Hopefully TG4 will buy this and give it a good slot...

Finally finished watching the first series, and am also wondering what on earth they can do to make a second series worth hanging around for.
While KB was a fantastic lead throughout, I felt many of the supporting cast were very poor, and despite the well-paced central thread, a lot of the B-stories came close to ruining the series, especially around the middle. There are still a few things that just don't add up
how on earth are we supposed to believe Leo is only 19 and vice sheriff? just what happened to make Veronica and Logan click? Weevil's whole wiseass/dumbass character; what exactly is the attraction to that multimillioniare dullard Duncan? How is Veronica dual-booting Xp and Mac OS on that latptop? :D

Ummm...well I thought it was great tbh,the B-stories will always be a part of it,like the Dead Zone, they go with single stories then Stillson, then single stories and back to Stillson. When the B episodes are very good,it works, and I think they were great on VM.

I think the Duncan guy can't act, and I thought
the ep where Logan and Veronica hooked up was a dream! lol I was tired, Randy from Home Improvment was some kind of agent,Veronica's dad and Wallace's mam hooked up...and for some reason I thought the ep would end up being all a dream :p which it didnt! lol

and speaking of Wallace,I think he is probably the best of the supporting cast, but they seem to under use him a bit.

Have been wondering how season 2 of Veronica can match one of the best long-running season arcs for years (by comparison, the Desperate Housewives mystery seems very weak and simplistic). Veronica Mars' first season managed the right balance, I thought, between B-stories (none of which were uninteresting) and giving us tidbits on the Lily Kane murder.

I was quite pleased with the resolution, but they could still have sown more seeds for a season two mystery. If this show doesn't get another long-running one, I think the week-to-week plots may get irksome.

Agree they need to bring in Wallace much more. And for the other secondary characters (Logan, Duncan, Weevil) - they lose an element of our interest in that none of them are any longer potentials for having killed Lily. The writers will need to find new ways to tie them into Veronica's newest mystery.

All that said, I'm glad they didn't stretch out the Lily Kane murder into a second year. It was wise to ensure it had a tidy wrap-up. However, too most of its other plots were wrapped up neatly as well:
    Veronica's paternity, her mother's return...
I'm glad they left a few things in there:
Logan's mother, Logan's own standing on the bridge, who turned up at Veronica's door
to keep us guessing for a few months.

Hope the show can rediscover that magic in season two. Whedon is right - this one had cult written all over it in season one. Here's hoping season two is half as good.

Just finished watching the season thanks to the cousins. Nice show. Didn't much care for the slightly hollywood ending, and they underused Weevil something awful, but nice little cliffhanger, and as doh says above, there are still a couple of issues outstanding, and I'm glad that they solved the mystery of
    Veronica's 'rape'

    Looking forward to next season.
