    Single table satellite 10 seater.Started with T1000 chips.It's now 7 handed.
    First prize takes all.

    There's a running ante of $50. blinds are $100-200. the levels increment dramatically every 15 minutes, and play is relatively slow.

    Im in the bb with $1050 behind. fold to small blind, who goes all in. he has $3,400. based on our 45 minutes of play i believe he is a skilled player.

    I call with k8o.

    I agree with HJ, it's a good call depending on your definition of 'good'.

    NAh seriously..what do u think of the call???

    yea good call
    you have to make a stand sometime soon
    the blinds are going to be on everyones mind and if the SB is a good player he's knows he's going to have to try and steal some. with such a big bet it looks like he doesn't want a caller
    K6 might be ahead against a random hand

    Risky call. K8 suited I'd have gone for it, but passing the blind on the next hand would have kept me out of this one.

    The presence of the antes and the winner takes all format means passing here would be a big mistake.

    the cards been suited or not shouldn't really make a difference imo

    BTW.I took the hand from 2+2..
    turns out your a 54% fav against 2 random cards http://gocee.com/poker/he_ev_hand.html

    if your opponent knows in that situation he profits by pushing on any two cards against anyone who will fold "normally," then the call is the right option

    so, figuring overall i was about even (even if he folded his worst 10-15% of hands) and getting nearly 2:1 odds, i called.

    Just thought it was an interesting scenario....

    An extra 2% can make a big difference :)

    Like I said rough call, but I'm still thinking the other players got something going in, being shortstacked, he knows the BB might call, even with All-In, it seems an oversight. I'm thinking A high or pocket pair.

    The right call was made though, I'll take note.

    Just finished work so the brain is a bit muddled ... but how did you work out the odds of nearly 2:1 ?

    Antes = 50 per player = 350.
    Blinds = 300.
    SB puts you all in for 1050,

    So pot = 1700, giving you pot odds of 1700:1050 or nearly 2/1.

    If SB is a good player then he's pushing on any two cards, and your K8o is approx even money against two random cards, so calling is the right move.

    Thanks Lenny - I felt I was missing something somewhere .. damn antes :o

    * Edit *
    I should've pointed out that I wasn't doubting the call.. as even without the antes it was justified .. I just couldn't figure out the odds quoted :)

    Judging by your posts in the past, I was surprised you were even asking the question! :)
