What I'd give! More importantly, who's playing with Chick Corea?

Just did a bit of googling. Chick Corea & Touchstone. Band: Chick Corea, Carles Benavent, Tom Brechtlein, Jorge Pardo, Rubem Dantas,
Tim Garland. Not familiar with any of them but you'd bet they're savage.

Carles Benavent is an awesome musician - I saw him play jazz bass with Miles Davis some time back - you gotta catch him i you can.

Joshua Redman Elastic Band, saw these over in America, absolutely amazing, McCoy Tyner Trio (he played with John Coltrane for a good while), Ron Carter, one of my favourites, played with the Miles Davis Quintet

I highly recommend pianist Enrico Pieranunzi's gig at the Triskel this year with the equally-talented Gabrielle Mirabassi on clarinet...can't remember who's on bass. This will be premier quality european jazz...melodic, spellbinding stuff. If you want to check these guys out, visit www.egearecords.com or www.camjazz.com. I think Lyric FM (The Third Wave) intend to record the gig by the way.

By the way, does anybody know the price of the tickets? Are they individual or sold as a whole weekend thingy?

It's unlikely you'll be able to buy an "all-in" ticket...I don't recall them selling these in previous years. In general, it'll be one ticket = one gig. Having said that, you may be able to buy day/weekend tickets for the festival club in the Metropole Hotel. Spending an entire day in the Met is a little akin to spending a whole day in a Vegas casino...you lose track of time and have no idea whether it's 2am or 2pm!

Gota see McCoy Tyner trio! What kind of band has Corea got with him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 470 ✭✭JacoStanley

I think it's his latin type stuff. Flamenco guitarist and bassist. In fact, the bassist, guitarist and drummer used to be part of Paco De Lucia's band.

    Ron Carter?
...he's the very tall black double bass player yes?...seen him with a veryy good jazz guitarist (can't think of his name right off) on an Edd Thigpen instructional "how to play brushes" video that I have at home and study from time to time...am no jazz wizz myself...but is good to see folks as renowned as this guy in Cork for the jazz bash :)

    ciao' jazzing amigos..Baggio

Not sure...but past experience suggests anything from 30 euro to 45 euro...tickets should be on sale in a week or so.
