    I see an unsure future taking shape:
    Half-formed twinkles in your eyes,
    A house, alive with mess and trust
    struggling to exist, to breathe;
    A sonogram of hurt blinking back at me
    Accusingly in dreams.

    An empty bassinet.

    And you say things to defy your love,
    Things like:
    I can live without you--
    I don't miss you--
    As though by hurting me you make it absolutely true.

    Your affection is a boomerang, often ending up in Australia.
    You criss-cross my veins, never staying still.

    Your doubt tick tick ticks with a timer
    Nestled under your temper.
    It goes off with cruel candour.

    Reverbeating in my heart
    Like surreal emergency instructions,
    Carried over loud speakers
    In a carefully calm and neutral tone
    When I'm skidding down the stairs
    Unable to get out of this buidling.

    Dreaded but expected,
    This bi-monthy disaster.

    I feel I no longer need to diarize
    My decay the old-fashioned way;
    Just find a mutually convenient day
    and look at headstones or engagement rings.

    Shiv, I love this piece but I would definitley remove this line:
    Often ending up in Australia...it ruins that line completely. I love the rest though...good to see your posting again ;)

    Totally with you on the Australia line. It feels like Ogden Nash or someone just snuck that in. Nothing wrong with Nash, of course, but... time and place, y'know?

    Thanks Irishlily and ExOffender for your feedback, I agree about the Australia line, don't know what I was thinking now..must've just been a personal association that I tried to make fit.
    Thanks again!

    That's really good. Plus, I can relate (I think), so that makes it even better.
