There's precious little to do in Belgium, but you can't miss Brugge.

Travel to Brugge (sp. varies) and Louvain...both v. nice. Gent is supposed to be lovely also...get yourself one of those 10 Journey go-passes for the train and fill in each destination as you go - save some cash.

I could be completely wrong but if your there for 5 months I'm guessing your a Stagaire perhaps? If so, drinking def. dominates things but not everyone will do just that. I'd say it's still v. important to go along - at least for now - to keep meeting new people...who may have a wider perspective!

I agree Brugge and Louvain are lovely, but Gent really is the place to spend a sunny day. My sis lives in Brussels so I'm over and back alot, and to be honest there ain't much to do over there.... unless you love IKEA, thats what most of the Belgians do, that and BRICO
