I just had a look on the Chainreactioncycles website for a bike and found
    a deal for a GT Avalanche 1.0 for 220sterling down from 299.
Sounds like a sweet deal, but if i shopped around in dublin , would it be possible to get a better deal considering how the exchange rate makes buying from Sterling areas more expensive? Looking for a MTB with 22inch frame and up, in and around the 250-300euro mark
    Thanks ;)

I don't see the 1.0 on the site but the 20 is EUR319. It's a good bike for the money - solid and basic and will stand up to off-road use. Free delivery too. Are you sure about the size though? MTB frames are very compact (I'm 6'2" and ride a 19" frame) - 22" is huge.

i was looking at the versio of that bike with disc brakes:

are these any good, ie worth the extra.

i am looking for a mountain bike around 300-400, for some offroading and a little commuting.

i wouldn't be averse to buying second had.

what places are good for second hand bikes and what could i expect for my money
