Hi there, i dont really know where exactly to post that, but since the problem is limited to my Dell Latitude c400, id think its here:

    Anyways:

I have that p3 1ghz M Dell c400 with 20gb hdd and 256 ram with a mini pci (broadcom 54g wifi network card inside) and i seem to have some problem.

i am running win Xp Pro sp2 on it and it runs the system no problem at all, not even any slowing down.

however, when i put the system on standby (ie closing the lid) and waking it up afterwards, i cant even click on Admin to log in it takes so much time. the mouse moves around the screen perfectly, but to do anything it takes a hell of a time.

in the end, i always have to shut down the laptop forcibly by pressing on the power button.

this happens with or without ac power, doesnt matter.

    its also running norton 2005.

Anybody any ideas?thanks for helping me

Check for a BIOS upgrade for your laptop, sometimes standby problems are due to incorrect BIOS coding, this fixed it for me on my dell computer.

could also try taking off norton and trying standby, if it works then you'll probably have to find an alternative AV.

Humm? I have a similar problem except my laptop just refuses to turn on the screen when I return from stand by. Any suggestions?

wasnt really a norton problem. turns out to be a file in windows folder: control.ini. if u wipe out all that is inside that file BUT U MUST ENABLE HIBERNATION, it will work fine. a friend of my, comp tech showed me the trick. runs perfectly again now.
