I'm thinking about getting myself one of these - anyone here tried one before / own one? Musically I'm into any style, never played one myself but I heard this on a few recordings & think it sounds gorgeous. Also, does anyone know if somewhere in Dublin would stock it / something similar? Neither of the Galway shops (yes, there's just the two  ) stock any hollow body electric basses but a trip to Dublin could be arranged.

Dont bothercomming up to dublin to buy it. It train would cost the same as shipping from Germany. Buy it on www.thomann.de or www.musicstore.com, Alternatively, save some money and go used in the Buy and Sell. I cant vouch for the bass though.

I'd imagine he's going to Dublin to try the bass first...

Hmmm, modeled after the Gibson EB-2, famed for it's "Sea Of Mud" tone...

...I'd be very careful about buying that TBH

Lol yeah, hardly a good idea spending €700 or more on a new guitar when I've never even seen one like it in-the-flesh (so to speak :p).

    & for the record, I'm a she, not a he :p

[edit - just saw Doctor J's post]
Yeah, I'm being as cautious as possible, I'd never buy without trying it first & seeing how I like it. One review says it's got a beautiful warm tone & then the next says it's pure mud. But does anyone know if there's somewhere in Ireland stocking it so I could try one out?

I agree with the Doc. What bass(es) are you using at the moment, Yv, if you don't mind me asking?

I've only been playing a couple of years, I'm no expert. Just so ye know. Don't write me off when I say I play an Aria & I don't know the make... I'd intended to buy something in the region of €500 when I was shopping for that particular upgrade, then tried out the Aria for the craic & it was perfect, lovely action & whatnot, a real surprise given it was less than half the price. Which is another reason I try before I buy :p

But now I think I want to grow my collection a little ;)

For what it's worth, I really like Aria basses. Hate Aria guitars though.

If you really want to go down the semi hollow route then here's another option.

If not, get a Jazz bass or a G&L tribute L-2000
