    Hello everyone!

I am going to two weddings over the next 2 months.

Really stuck for a nice dress...I have the shoes... golden high heels .. and the bag small goldy clutch... but need to get a dress to match... aagh!

I've looked in Julienne, Arnotts and Roches Henry st, but nothing is grabbing me ...

    Has anybody any ideas please??

(I'll worry about the 2nd wedding outfit after i sort the first... :p )

    Thanks :)
    R

Try Principles (Grafton St. and Dundrum and possible a few other places but I don't know where they are), I got a very nice outfit in there for a wedding I went to recently.

    Thanks A,

I have just seen a lovely dress in black lace over dark green material yesterday in town, so i have my eye on that now.

But think i will have to do black shoes/bag instead.

There's a gorgeous dress in Coast....its a strapless no and it's cream with brown bits on it...really nice...pricey but worth it

    Hi Idontknowmyname
Yeah i saw that one, its gorgeous alright.
I've decided to focus on the dress first now and do the shoes / accessories last.
Only thing about Coast is imagine if i turned up and someone else has the same dress on... yikes.
Think I might take a trip down the country next weekend.... ok new post for me now... :)

i think black and white are both considered kind of bad at weddings. i DID wear a black dress to one a few months ago, but i only went to the evening so i think i was alright, dont think id wear a black dress to the full day.

maybe there are ways to accessorise it colourfully? is it completely black..?

I think it is okay to wear a black dress to a wedding if its classy and you accessorise nicely with it..and as long as the bridesmaids arent wearing black too..went to a lovely wedding last year and anyone wearing black looked like the bridemaids..accessorise well and you should be fine.

Try Ted Baker or Monsoon - I've gotten a few wedding dresses in those shops and received great compliments :)

heads up to kildare village they have a coast store and as its not the latest dresses in the store (tends to be last season) theres less chance of you wearing the same as someone else. theres also great shops like karen millen and celine and monsson there roo

I got a fab dress in Karen Millen there at Xmas and I was a bit concerned at the whole world wearing it scenario. The SA was telling me that that particular store in Kildare Village actually take stuff in from all over Europe and that the dress I had bought was only sold in Iceland of all places. It'd be a good place to try..

Hi I'm going to a wedding in 3 wks time. I went out shopping for an outfit and I always buy black clothes even tho I try not to cause I have put on a bit of weight recently and find it more slimming. I came home with black trousers with white pinstipe on them and a silky black top with white pattern on it and a white spagetti top for underneath because it was quite low. Its a lovely outfit but now I'm thinking its not really what I should wear to a wedding. What do you think should I wear it or not? I'm really worried now that I'll look more like I'm going to a funeral. Plz help!
    Thanks

i wore a black silk tier dress to a wedding and was very concerned over it but it was fine everyone commented on how nice it was so dont worry the day of " you dont wear black to a wedding " is long gone....if you are comfortable in your outfit then go for it...enjoy the day

I have never heard of this before, that it is not ok to wear black to a wedding.

Why would it not be ok? Anyway, I really don't think the bride or groom would be that bothered, they have other things to be thinking about/doing on their day to be worrying about what colour their guests are wearing.

If you have the time to look, try TKMaxx. You could get a lovely reduced designer piece. I found a beautiful maxi dress there, it was reduced to 60 Euro & I'm always complimented on it :)

there was a time LeggyBrunette when wearing black to a wedding was thought as bad luck for the bride and groom...when i got married my guests could have been naked for all i cared....some people are supersticious
