Bad Players / good players

Haven't been playing long but managed to win a free-roll the other night. Some players were getting very annoyed (some bordering on offensive) at my style of play. I was making a few risky calls, purely because the others could see I was green and were bullying their hands.

When they lost and the cards were turned over they were saying stuff like "A REAL player wouldn't have called that" and "Nobody with a brain would have done that". I can't see why as I won each hand they questioned

Am I being naive here or is calling peoples bluffs and taking risks not all part of poker? In my opinion, these so-called "pro's" or "experienced" poker players would see a call coming or a bluff being given so much more clearly if they took their heads out of their arses.

Sounds like you were playing with ársehóles. Very few experienced players will pass much commentary on your play beyond a little friendly advice, if you looked very "green".

Don't get too focused on the results. A correct decision is still correct whether you won or lost.

New players always place too much emphasis on bluffing. There is little or no reason to call to keep someone honest if you don't think you can beat them. If you honestly smell a bluff with good reason, then call. Don't assume every aggressive move is a bluff.

Given you were playing a freeroll, it's highly unlikely you happened across many pros.

Well when you sit down at the Big game, and it costs you nothing as you won the freeroll just remember those idiots who gave out to you. Okay sometimes people get pissed off, me included when someone makes a call, but I still think that people should take it in the chin and not be so snotty bout it. You won, end of story. If people get knocked out of a tournament just get up leave, end of story.

Fair enough, you won the hands and they should simply accept it. However if they were getting so annoyed maybe you were making bad calls and taking risks and simply getting lucky?? Correct me if I'm wrong! All I mean is if you were pretty lucky that night and hitting cards no matter how risky the move, remember that your luck may be differnt next week!

If im totally wrong here and you simply outplayed them, remember when they annoy you again after winning a pot just say 5 simple words. -

    'sssshhhhh! I'm counting your chips!'

thanks lads. I reckon that I was out-playing them with a sprinkle of luck thrown in. Cheers for the advice though.
