I've never signed up for it and it looks a bit dodgy with the layout etc. Usually find it in the spam section of my Gmail. No advertising in it though so I'm wondering what the catch is. Would it be worth keeping an eye on the so-called stocks that they're trumpeting just to see if there's anything in it?

I'd just like to know what the point is in these emails (for the sender) and what they're getting out of it. I mean if I had tons of cash and I knew certain things about a company (yeah I know it's insider trading!) that would cause the price to rocket when released to the city I certainly wouldn't go mailing a bunch of strangers about it!

There are a number of things it could be. It could be similar to a betting scam where a fraudster mass mails people predicted results to soccer games (or whatever). The idea is at any one game half the predictions will be right, and then he mails those same people who received a correct prediction again with new predicted results and repeats the process. Eventually when he has a group of people that have received a string of successful results, he asks them for money to subscribe to his "newsletter" with more predictions.

Another possible thing is that the mailer owns stock in that company and wants to hype it up and cause people to buy in order to increase its value and thus profit from it. I belive that is highly illegal in the states though. But then again so much Spam is.

If it was unsolicited, delete it. Don't even bother to read it. Or at least that's my philosophy on such.

Free solicited stuff can be ok, although tbh, you need to take it with a large grain of salt, and for it to be of use to you you already need to be able to "read" the markets and have some grasp of them.

    *shrugs*

    Again, imho.
