We all know the way most(slight understatement) of the Metallica songs were written by Hetfield and Ulrich. But i have often heard them being quoted as saying that Kirk writes the solos for all the songs with Hetfield,if this is true how come he doesn't get the credit for writing the song.
Im sure the solo is an intergral part of the song

I think it's covered by the "Album written by Metallica" clause.

    Whats that?

Somewhere on the album it should say something about the album being written by Metallica.

Of course, it all depends on what they've agreed on re: credits. If someone comes up with a riff (like Hammett did on Enter Sandman), then he gets a full writing credit. Same with Newstead. He wrote all the bass for all the songs but he only got credit on songs he came up with the riff for (Blackened and My Friend Of Misery being two).

I see.so would if be the same thing with Slayer,Dave Lombardo never gets mention in the credits for the songs but its just a given fact he wrote all the drum tracks.
