I think its pretty fast and normaly gets accurate safe results. Mind you, it has a lot of illegal downloads available.

Well - why close if we can talk about legal downloads? Just because the program serves illegal files also...

    Indeed!
Hold on a second, I just realised something.. The internet serves illegal files too.
Better stop using that or I might be arrested for being potentially able to download illegal files.

*crackle*****, they're onto us, they're onto us, abort the operation, I say again, abort! abort!*crackle*

You have a point I guess, but the admins and therefore the moderators are pretty anti-warez here, and while all this stuff is easily sought and accessed online, I feel tptb wouldn't really want to allow it to be found here.

Just my experience, although I don't know how they will call this one. As was mentioned, legit stuff is available through limewire too.

If the owners of the board have stated directly that they do not support or don't want to see threads on these kind of programs which are essentially used for obtaining data copies illegally then removal/closure along with a warning is appropiate IMHO. To just ban a user who may not have been aware of any policy being in effect is wrong I think.

I don't allow it at my own forums and in most cases I'll just replace or remove the content with a policy insertion instead and llet the thread die by locking. Repeating a request by the same user results in a temp ban and then if that fails a ban.

Thats more of a personal approach really I suppose being a generous kind of chap but it's upto the individual owners of bb boards as to what policy they set - some can be harsher than others, generally on busier boards like this one. You just don't have time to allow for 'Grey' areas or you'd be here all day...

In that case, ban the Internet discussion threads :P.

Not at all. Your totally misunderstanding me. Personally I've used Limewire and I'm indifferent towards as there is 'Legal Options' out there. Grouper being one for instance.

The point is the Legality issue and what happens within threads that ask about this kind of software. Whilst there are 'Legal' files for download on Limewire, mostly the files are Illegal.

In threads such as these links can or may be posted and if you are discussing the new attraction or kid on the block 'Torrents' then it could be seen that you are supporting a 'Torrent Network'. An operator can be closed down for this and if that operator relies on the forum/bb board as a way to generate revenue? Or his lively hood then where is he left/she left?

Personally I can't afford the fines or legal expences associated so I can't allow it at my own place. Thats the reason why and I suspect would be the same reason here. It's nothing personal and I do sympathise that your just trying to find out some info but for operators it can be a thin line as to what can and can't be allowed.

Best way I know is to Google for info on it ;)
