Strabane - 3rd worst place in UK?

Strabane, in the north west of Northern Ireland, was named as the third worst place to live in the UK.

This was partly because the percentage of economically active people was 68.2%, compared to the UK average of 74.1%, and the number job seekers' allowance claimants was more than double the UK average.

And this shocks you? Strabane has always been known as an employment blackspot. If I remember correctly it was actually classed at one point as the worst blackspot in europe for employment.

The rest of it is people who cba to get a job so they just claim jobseekers. Same happens all over Derry. Basically people worked out that it's cheaper to get their houses paid for, and to claim their jobseekers allowance, than have the hassle of going out to find a job.

But then considering that most people are doing they double and claiming while working off the books...

Others just realised that if they have kids, they can claim 2 homes and 2 incomes and benefits if they have 2 kids or more and say that each parent has a child with them. They still live together and just use the other home for renting out to people or just leave it empty. In most cases it's a dole drop at a friends house where the make a deal to have the housing executive pay their friend for them to live there, then they half the cash and take some each.

It's an old old old scam that most people are living the high life without having to ever do an honest days work in their life - note HONEST!

Normally i'd congratulate someone for 'sticking it to the man', but in this case it's people sponging off the goverment, putting my taxes up. So I have to pay more for them to sit about and not have to get a job, when i'm working my ass off and barely keeping a roof over my head. So to be honest this utterly sickens me. I would never give someone up for it, but it does sicken me that people think they deserve to get a free ride off everyone elses back.

And it just perpetuates the large companies giving their workers crap wages because they see the area as an employment blackspot and think that they can get away with anything. It means people doing a hard days work are getting paid feck all. American companies coming into the North West are making callcentres etc the new factories. Slave labour for the masses, wrapped up in a nice package with awards for "employee caring" blah blah.

When I become king...first up against the wall...

Strabane is in the UK. Derry is in the UK. We live in Ireland. The places are part of the UK, but situated on the island of Ireland.

Hence those who call themselves british aren't, but are actually irish. Same way those who say they are 'irish' because they are from the republic...going by that idea, they're republicans .

But in the end wtf is nationality? If you leave and go somewhere else you're a different nationality. Patriotism and the everlasting 'struggle' is a lot of bullsh1t.

It's kids that think it's all about england-ireland that forget that people in the troubles weren't fighting for their nationality, they were fighting for their rights. The right to walk down a street and not get harrassed or beaten up by the authorities that were supposed to be protecting them.

So don't give me this trip about Strabane is in ireland not the UK. When you have enough non political braincells to rub together to ignite an original thought, then come talk to me.
